Requirements

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

· Meet with clients to understand their goals, assets, family dynamics, and wishes, and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the relationship.

· Develop comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives; review and update existing plans as client circumstances change.

· Advise clients on estate and tax planning, estate administration, asset protection, charitable giving, elder law, and special needs planning.

· Handle business law matters, including entity formation, succession planning, contracts, tax advice, and commercial real estate.

· Draft and revise legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail, ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, and explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients.

· Conduct legal research and analysis to support client matters and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

· Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and negotiations as necessary.

· Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, compliance professionals, and support staff to effectively manage caseloads and meet client objectives.

· Maintain accurate and organized matter files, documentation, and correspondence, and respond promptly and professionally to client communications.

· Partner with compliance personnel to address relevant matters, strengthen controls, and support risk-mitigation strategies and a culture of compliance.

· Build and maintain strong client relationships, cultivate relationships with key business partners, deepen professional networks, and contribute to the growth of the practice.

What Will Help You Succeed

We are looking for someone who:

· Holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

· Is admitted to the New York State Bar, is in good standing, and maintains an active New York license.

· Brings 1-3+ years of experience as an associate attorney.

· Has an understanding of estate and tax planning, business planning, and/or elder law.

· Demonstrates strong analytical, legal research, drafting, and writing skills.

· Understands the importance of creating rapport, developing trust, and becoming a holistic advisor for clients and their families.

· Communicates clearly and professionally - in writing, by telephone, and in person - with clients, colleagues, courts, and outside contacts.

· Can manage multiple client matters, changing priorities, and strict deadlines while maintaining a calm, organized, and client-focused presence.

· Is comfortable with CRM or legal practice-management software (Clio preferred) and has a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

· Handles confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion.

· Takes ownership, leads by example, collaborates across functions, and brings a positive, resourceful, 'can-do' attitude to every task.

· Is dependable, responsive, committed to continuous learning, and enthusiastic about providing excellent service to clients and the team.
