Position Overview:

An Associate Database Engineer is responsible for assisting with the monitoring and maintenance of PostgreSQL database environments. The role involves working closely with experienced database engineers to monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and support routine database operations.

This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for freshers who have a good understanding of PostgreSQL, SQL, Linux, and basic database concepts.

Responsibilities

• •Assist in managing and maintaining customer PostgreSQL database environments.
• •Monitor database performance using internal tools and monitoring metrics.
• •Assist in identifying and troubleshooting basic database issues.
• •Support database backup and recovery activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
• •Assist with routine database maintenance and operational activities.
• •Support database upgrade and maintenance activities.
• •Assist in monitoring database availability and health.
• •Follow standard procedures for handling and escalating database-related issues.
• •Document technical issues and troubleshooting activities.
• •Work closely with team members to resolve database-related issues.
• •Continuously develop knowledge of PostgreSQL, Linux, SQL, and database administration.

Requirements

• •Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL database concepts .
• •Good understanding of SQL fundamentals .
• •Basic knowledge of Linux OS and commonly used Linux commands .
• •Understanding of basic database concepts such as tables, indexes, joins, constraints, and transactions.
• •Basic understanding of database backup and recovery concepts.
• •Basic awareness of database replication and high-availability concepts.
• •Basic knowledge of any programming or scripting language such as Python or Bash is an advantage.
• •Basic understanding of Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is an advantage.
• •Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• •Strong communication skills.
• •Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• •Willingness to learn new technologies and database administration practices.
• •Willingness to work in rotational shifts and rotational week-offs .

Preferred Qualifications:

• •B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.E. or any equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• •Academic projects or internships related to PostgreSQL, SQL, Linux, Python, or databases will be an advantage.
• •Basic understanding of PostgreSQL administration concepts.
• •Basic knowledge of database monitoring and management tools.
• •Familiarity with database backup, recovery, replication, and availability concepts is a plus.
• •PostgreSQL or related database certifications are a plus.
• •Strong interest in building a career in Database Engineering / Database Administration .
