From how we hire and develop our people to how we advance rigorous science, we are building a team committed to transforming medicine in autoimmune diseases, starting with the kidney.
Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Commercial Analytics drives promotional effectiveness analytics for TRUTAKNA — measuring whether Vera’s promotional investment is working and shaping where it goes next. Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial Forecasting and Advanced Analytics, the role also carries opportunities to flex into support for commercial forecasting as business needs and the individual’s interests align.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility individual contributor role in a lean commercial team. The person in this seat builds the models, forms a view on what they mean, and brings that thinking to commercial leadership. Partners include Business Operations, Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Patient Services, Launch Excellence, Finance, and Supply.
Responsibilities:
Promotional Effectiveness
Drive promotional effectiveness analytics for TRUTAKNA and inform the optimal level and mix of promotional investment across channels, audiences, and customer segments.
Build and interpret promotional response models, program ROI analyses, and channel and campaign measurement; develop marketing mix and promotional sequence optimization capability as promotional history accumulates.
Estimate the sales impact of personal and non-personal channels using statistical and predictive modeling, and design test-and-learn approaches where historical data is thin.
Ground segmentation, targeting, and customer prioritization in promotional responsiveness rather than volume alone, refreshing as diagnostic patterns and account discovery evolve.
Support field sizing and deployment, territory alignment, goal setting, and incentive compensation design with promotional responsiveness and workload analysis.
Analyze field activity and territory performance, pairing quantitative KPIs with qualitative field insight to explain what is actually driving results.
Forecasting Support
Support development and maintenance of patient-based demand forecasts, including patient funnel and patient flow models spanning identification, diagnosis, referral, initiation, and persistence.
Pressure-test forecast assumptions using analog launch benchmarks, real-world data, and primary market research, and help refine them against actuals as the launch matures.
Provide the analytics that reconcile demand signals with financial forecasts and supply planning inputs, helping explain variances and assumption changes to Finance and Supply Chain partners.
Analytics Foundation
Draw on internal business data — CRM and field activity, patient services and HUB enrollment, market access and specialty pharmacy feeds, and sales data — to build a coherent analytical view of the business.
Partner with Business Operations and IT on analytical requirements for the commercial data environment.
Build reusable, well-documented analytics assets in place of one-off analyses.
AI-Enabled Analytics
Apply AI and generative AI tools to accelerate analysis, automate recurring reporting, and synthesize unstructured inputs such as field insights, congress content, etc..
Evaluate AI-enabled analytics capabilities and vendor solutions with a practical view of where they add value and where they do not.
Help set standards for responsible use, including validation of AI-generated output, data privacy, and compliance guardrails.
Partnership and Communication
Contribute analysis and interpretation into launch reporting and the sales quarterly business review.
Serve as an analytics partner to Business Operations, Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Patient Services, and Launch Excellence, translating ambiguous business questions into clear analytical plans.
Deliver executive-level readouts that lead with the decision at hand, carry appropriate caveats, and land with non-technical audiences.
Balance and sequence competing priorities across stakeholders, negotiating scope and timing transparently.
Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure analytics practices meet healthcare regulatory, privacy, and data-use standards.
Qualifications:
Required
Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, or MBA) in a quantitative, scientific, or business discipline preferred; a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or scientific field with commensurate depth of experience will also be considered.
5+ years of commercial analytics, business insights, or commercial data experience on biotech or pharmaceutical commercial teams.
Demonstrated ownership of promotional effectiveness work, including promotional response modeling, program ROI, and channel or campaign measurement; exposure to marketing mix modeling or promotional sequence optimization a plus.
Experience supporting patient-based demand forecasting, including funnel or patient flow models.
Hands-on experience with real-world data assets, including anonymized patient-level data, claims, lab data, specialty pharmacy or HUB data, and syndicated prescription or shipment data.
Experience working with internal business data sources, including CRM and field activity data, patient services data, and market access or channel data.
Advanced Excel; proficiency with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI; Python, SQL, R a plus.
Practical, current proficiency with AI tools applied to biotechnology commercial work, with specific examples of where they changed the speed or quality of an output.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of presenting to and influencing executive audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities across a broad stakeholder set with limited direction.
Preferred
Depth in forecasting methodology, including scenario modeling, long-range forecasting, and analog-based assumption development.
Experience commissioning primary market research and integrating it with secondary and internal data.
Product launch experience in a specialty, rare disease, or nephrology, immunology, or autoimmune setting.
Experience in a small or mid-sized biotech where the analytics function is being built rather than inherited.
Experience managing analytics vendors, agencies, or offshore delivery teams.
This role is remote within the United States. Periodic travel is expected for team meetings, national and regional sales meetings, and onsite collaboration weeks at the Brisbane, CA headquarters, approximately 25% of time.
