Job Description:
- About the Role:
- We are seeking a strategic and proactive Associate Director – Risk Analysis, Controls & Assurance to work directly alongside the VP, Global Risk & In-Business Controls to design, deploy, and maintain an enterprise-wide risk framework. This role extends beyond traditional price reporting risk management into the full operational spectrum of the business—spanning research, data management, AI deployment, new product development, antitrust compliance, and events. You will be responsible for building robust guardrails and control mechanisms that proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks before they impact the business.
About the Team:
Dow Jones Energy is a leading global energy intelligence business providing trusted price reporting from our specialist Price Reporting Agency (PRA) OPIS, Chemical Market Analytics (CMA) and McCloskey, proprietary data, market intelligence, news and research to help customers navigate increasingly interconnected energy markets. Through our specialist businesses, Dow Jones Energy makes it easier to discover and access trusted expertise spanning oil and gas, chemicals, refined fuels, coal, electric vehicle infrastructure and renewables. Our specialist businesses combine rigorous pricing methodologies with world-class human judgment to deliver the trusted intelligence and specialist insight customers need to make confident decisions.
You Will:
- Partner with leadership to architect, operationalize, and maintain a comprehensive risk analysis, controls, and assurance framework tailored to Dow Jones Energy.
- Lead risk assessments across editorial and non-editorial business functions, executing continuous monitoring, controls testing, and gap analyses to ensure guardrails remain effective.
- Define and monitor control frameworks governing the use of AI, machine learning tools, and automated data ingestion, while embedding risk-by-design principles into the new product development (NPD) pipeline.
- Implement controls to safeguard against antitrust issues, commercial conflicts of interest, and regulatory non-compliance.
- Partner with Data Governance and Tech teams to establish control standards around data provenance, intellectual property usage, third-party licensing, and data security.
You Have:
- Demonstrable experience in risk management, internal controls, regulatory assurance, or operational risk, preferably within financial data, energy/commodities markets, or publishing.
- Broad domain exposure to operational risk areas, including data governance, AI/tech governance, antitrust/competition law considerations, event operations, and product development lifecycles.
- Proven analytical ability to map business processes, identify latent control gaps, and design pragmatic, non-bureaucratic control solutions.
- Executive presence and strong communication skills to articulate risk concepts clearly to senior business leaders, technical teams, and commercial partners.
- A proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on shifting risk management to an upfront strategic enablement function.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, Technology, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
