Job Title: Transport Porter

Department: Transport evenings

Location: Chessington Service Centre

Reports to: Night shift Manager

Job Purpose:

To accurately distribute orders to the correct routes and ensure this is done safely, along with any other requests required by management.

Key Accountabilities:

• •Accurately checking orders / totes from drop sheets paying special attention to route, according to procedures.
• •Ensure orders / totes are allocated to pallet / route cage.
• •Prioritise orders / totes by route departure time.
• •Loading vehicles as per instructions, ensuring that all bins, boxes, bags are loaded in the vehicle in a safe manner.
• •Ensuring all loads are secure, following the correct load security processes.
• •Ensuring that all pallets and cages are stored correctly and bins, boxes, bags are stacked in a safe manner.
• •Ensure all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
• •Any other tasks required by management.
• •Ensuring empty totes are sorted correctly

Desirable:

Any previous experience working in a warehouse environment would be highly desirable as well as any experience driving a Counterbalance forklift truck.

Manual Handling:

It should be noted that manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential requirements of this role.

Level of decision making:

Low level of decision making.

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.

Less than 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, courier operations, delivery services, or a related field required.

Certification in dangerous goods awareness, licensure in operation of the applicable vehicle class, cold chain handling, or equivalent required.
