Position Summary

The Associate in Fund Performance supports the analytical output of the team. The role encompasses maintaining and enhancing calculation engines and reporting tools, Track Record production, dashboard development, and data governance. The individual will take ownership of assigned performance deliverables and act as a bridge between the Technology and Finance teams.

Role & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Fund Knowledge & Performance Methodology

Achieve a detailed understanding of the fund's portfolio investments, Limited Partnership Agreements, Borrowing Facility Agreements, investment pipeline and FX/cash management policies

Develop thorough knowledge of 17Capital Metrics & Calculation Methodologies and explain calculation methodologies used in performance analysis to the rest of the business

Modelling and Performance Analytics

Review gross cash flows and valuations produced by the Investment Operations team

Support the quarterly valuations process by maintaining and enhancing the calculation engines and reporting tools in MS Excel and Power BI (maintain — not update — the valuations workbook/calculation engines)

Maintain and update the gross and net Track Record and Data Pack quarterly, releasing the Investment/Fund Track Record to the business to deadline

Produce bespoke investment performance analysis for the business — including Senior Leadership and individual investors — to support fundraising and ad-hoc enquiries

Build enhanced models for gross-to-net performance analysis, valuation and forecasting

Forecasting

Co-own the quarterly fund performance forecasting process with the team

Liaise with the Investment Team for individual investment inputs and with Client Services and Senior Leadership as end users of the outputs

Support the Investment Risk monitoring function by creating monitoring tools and dashboards for the investment portfolio and identifying risks

Shape, document and implement processes with adequate controls to ensure performance team data is captured and transferred between repositories accurately and efficiently

Ensure all data captured and utilised forms part of a structured data set

Collaborate with Fund Controllers to ensure timely provision of fund accounting data to support performance analysis

Review and re-structure data (e.g. gross portfolio and treasury data) for efficient input into Excel models and software solutions

Challenge and improve current processes around data governance and review so the business can be confident in the data and analysis produced

What is expected of you

As an Associate in Fund Performance, you support the analytical output of the team. You are personally accountable for:

Proactive stakeholder management — maintain all Performance trackers and logs on a daily basis and communicate status upward to the VP weekly; anticipate what your VP needs to know and surface it before being asked.

Ownership and accountability — own Track Record updates end-to-end and ensure timely, accurate release to the business.

Data ownership and governance — maintain and enhance the calculation engines and reporting tools that underpin 17Capital's performance analytics (accurate, documented, version-controlled); maintain Performance data within your remit on a weekly cycle — stale or unvalidated data is a control failure; support data governance initiatives and restructure data for quality, accessibility and efficient input to models and Snowflake.

Personal sign-off discipline — only sign off dashboards, data releases and analytical outputs that you have personally verified as correct.

Power BI dashboard delivery — build and maintain dashboards that meet the evolving needs of the business, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with underlying sources.

Quarterly valuations support — provide accurate and timely inputs and outputs to the quarterly valuations process.

Deal-level accountability — take full ownership of every deal within your remit; you are the accountable point of contact for each transaction assigned to you, personally responsible for its accuracy, timeliness and completeness.

Continuous improvement — proactively improve processes around data capture, governance and review; support investment risk monitoring through dashboard development and anomaly flagging.

Communicate proactively and anticipatorily with senior stakeholders within the team and with other business lines across 17Capital — provide active updates, flag developing issues, upcoming deadlines and emerging risks before they are asked about.
