Job Description :

The New York Post is the nation’s oldest newspaper with the youngest, most ambitious video department. We want to make our mark in digital video and create memorable work and new watching habits among our audience. The legacy of the great headlines conveys the attributes of our videos: bold, irreverent, judgmental, confident and clever. We want to make videos that surprise viewers. We seek someone who appreciates serious and quirky stories. Let’s talk!

The New York Post video team is seeking an Associate Producer for “Schein Time” with Adam Schein, a new daily live sports show that is national in scope. This AP will play a key role in assisting all aspects of the daily production process and be responsible for creating compelling, shareable videos and disseminating the show across social platforms. These clips will help drive in tune-in and be content worth watching.

The candidate we seek has deep knowledge of and interest in a wide range of sports, including NFL, MLB, NBA/WNBA, College Sports, NHL, emerging sports, gambling, fantasy, and current New York/California sports news.

Per our publication’s mantra, you agree that news doesn’t have to be boring and you appreciate the odd and unconventional stories as well as important ones.

This is an opportunity to join an iconic media brand as it continues exponential digital growth. The New York Post has garnered more than a billion video views across various platforms in the past year.

Responsibilities:

Assist in all aspects of daily production for a nationally distributed live sports show

Lead the creation of thumbnails, headlines, and other visual/packaging elements optimized for digital and social platforms

Manage and execute interactive promotion of show content across social media channels

Socialize show clips strategically to maximize reach, viewership, and engagement

Ensure smooth day-to-day production workflows while juggling multiple simultaneous tasks

Collaborate with producers and team members to generate ideas and contribute to daily show brainstorming

Support the production of digitally native video content tailored to platform-specific audiences

Apply deep knowledge of sports—including major leagues, emerging sports, gambling, esports, and fantasy—to content creation and promotion

Identify and help elevate unconventional, entertaining, and newsworthy sports stories in line with the publication’s brand voice

QUALIFICATIONS :

Minimum 2 years of experience in a digital/sports newsroom environment

Encyclopedic sports knowledge including upstart sports, fantasy, and esports.

Ability to pitch, produce, and script

Ability to polish on camera talent

Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and reporters.

Excellent communication and people skills

Experience creating video for social platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, X and more a plus

Strong news judgment, track record of successful video production

Implement best practices for video metadata, thumbnails, and discovery on all videos

Fluency with key tools in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects) also a plus.

Familiarity with the New York Post and our writing style

Use web analytics to monitor audience engagement with our videos and strategize for growth on various platforms

Excited about new types of multimedia storytelling

Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast paced but fun environment

Strong news judgment and attention to detail and journalistic values a must
