• Anticipated Starting Base Salary: Based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and internal equity.
• Travel: Occasional agency visits and team activities, approximately 2–3 times per year. Overnight travel may be required.

South Shore Insurance Underwriters is a Gulf Coast–owned and operated Managing General Agent (MGA) serving insurance agencies across a growing number of states. We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, catching details, and seeing work through to completion. You’ll support agents with quotes and policy changes while building your underwriting knowledge with guidance from an experienced team.

Position Overview

The Associate Underwriter supports our Personal Lines team with submission reviews, quoting, policy processing, inspections, and agent service. Assignments include HO6 condominium submissions, wind deductible buyback quotes, endorsements, renewals, and inspection support.

Reporting to the Underwriting Team Lead, you’ll work within established guidelines and assigned authority while receiving ongoing training and coaching.

What You’ll Do

Review submissions and prepare assigned quotes within underwriting guidelines and authority.

Request missing information, document underwriting reviews, and refer exceptions when appropriate.

Respond to agent emails and phone calls regarding submissions, quotes, and policy changes.

Process assigned renewals and endorsements, including premium-bearing changes.

Assist with inspection reviews, follow up on outstanding documentation, and review proof of repairs.

Maintain accurate records of policy changes, communications, and underwriting decisions.

Manage assignments to meet service standards and communicate questions or delays early.

Participate in coaching, quality reviews, team coverage, and occasional agency visits.

What You’ll Bring

Strong attention to detail and comfort working with premiums, coverage limits, and deductibles.

Clear written and verbal communication and comfort assisting agents by phone.

Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to manage competing priorities.

Sound judgment about when to work independently and when to seek guidance.

A willingness to learn, apply feedback, and collaborate with teammates.

Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to learn insurance systems.

Personal lines insurance, agency service, policy processing, or underwriting support experience is preferred. Candidates with transferable customer service or administrative experience who demonstrate strong accuracy, judgment, and learning ability are also encouraged to apply.
