Who We Are:
Detroit is a city that earns everything it gets, and that identity runs through this organization — how we work, how we develop, and how we compete. We’re building something here: one of the game’s most productive player development pipelines, a roster built on homegrown talent, and a culture built on getting better every single day. Our Baseball Operations department succeeds because of people who bring rigor, curiosity, and a genuine hunger to win to the work — not just on the field, but in every room where decisions get made.
Job Title: Athletic Training Seasonal Assistant

Applicants should expect an opportunity to grow as a clinician in professional baseball while gaining valuable experience through interprofessional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with pre-participation examinations and measurements, and provide practice and game coverage.
- Apply the six domains of athletic training — injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration, and professional responsibility — using the Major League Baseball EMR system.
- Communicate effectively with the MiLB Medical Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning staff, Field Staff, and Front Office.
- Relocate to Lakeland for Spring Training and to the assigned affiliate for the season; housing is provided.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Certified Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC), in good standing.
- Eligible for licensure in the State of Florida.
- Eligible for licensure in the assigned affiliate’s state (Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Michigan).
- Previous baseball experience preferred, but not required.
- Able to commit to the full length of the position (February through October).
Working Conditions:
- Athletic training room, clubhouse, and field environment, on-site at Lakeland and the assigned Minor League affiliate.
- Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required, as dictated by the baseball season schedule.
