DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Human Resources Departments provides many services to our multi-hospital organization including recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, compensation and benefits management, information services, and on-boarding/off-boarding.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Benefits Analyst at St. Charles Health System supports the administration of various employee benefit programs, such as health/dental/vision, retirement, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, life and disability coverage, time off plans, and additional voluntary benefits. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and customer-focused support.

Administers employee benefit programs including health & welfare plans, retirement and voluntary benefits through the HRIS (Workday).

Processes benefit enrollments, life events, terminations, and related transactions while ensuring data integrity and compliance.

Reconciles benefit eligibility, payroll deductions, carrier files, and vendor invoices; investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Partners with benefit vendors, payroll, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate plan administration and seamless employee experience.

Supports benefits compliance activities, audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements including applicable federal and state regulations.

Assists with life insurance claims and other employee benefits-related case management.

Administers employee wellness programs, including vendor coordination, program promotion, incentive tracking, employee engagement initiatives, and participation reporting.

Plans and coordinates employee appreciation events, wellness activities, recognition programs, milestone celebrations, and other engagement initiatives.

Generates and analyzes reports related to benefits, wellness, and employee engagement programs, providing recommendations for improvements.

Participates in HR and Benefits projects, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional teams to enhance programs and employee experience.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

Supports the Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, supporting the organization’s corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.

Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate.

May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

EDUCATION:

Required : High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, or other related field. Additional training or education in human resources. Familiarity of basic HR laws, policies, and regulations as related to employment and benefits.

EXPERIENCE:

Required : Minimum two (2) years progressively responsible experience supporting a human resources team.

Preferred: Prior benefits administration experience.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

Travel:

Must be able to travel to all SCHS worksites.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to professionally interact with a diverse population, including all levels within SCHS and external customers/clients/potential employees; exudes a high level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive matters.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Share Point, database management, and document preparation.

Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions.

Strong team working and collaborative skills.

Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continually (75% or more): Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.

Frequently (50%): Sitting, standing, walking, lifting 1-10 pounds, keyboard operation.

Occasionally (25%): Bending, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying/pushing, or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing.

Rarely (10%): Stooping/kneeling/crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 11-15 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle.

Never (0%): Climbing ladder/stepstool, lifting/carrying/pushing, or pulling 25-50 pounds, ability to hear whispered speech level.
