Our Organization

The Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) is a Colorado-based nonprofit. Launched in 2020 as the COVID-19 Eviction Defense Project, our organization was formed to keep our neighbors housed during the pandemic. Working with clients, we built a deeply integrative approach to eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness prevention that centers the legal and financial needs of housing-insecure families and uses a variety of tools to keep them housed. Our team now serves more than 1,000 people per month, bringing together housing lawyers, economists, data analysts, policy-experts, organizers, and technologists to serve our clients.

We have served more than 68,000 low-income Coloradans across 54 counties, distributing more than $280 million in emergency assistance. We have also contributed to the passage of major legislation to prevent eviction, stop economic abuse, and make credit and life-saving medication cheaper. CEDP’s model has been cited as a best practice by the White House and HUD in 2022-2023, think tanks like the Urban Institute , and in the media .

Building on our work to stop evictions, CEDP has further expanded its integrated services model to include disaster response, predatory towing, debt collection, benefit access & navigation, long-term rental assistance, and homelessness response. Similar to CEDP’s work on rental housing, these efforts offer a continuum of care that includes navigation and advisory services, targeted payments, legal support, and the ability to participate in advocacy.

More about the Bilingual Front Desk Coordinator position:

In this role, you will provide full-day coverage at CEDP’s Colorado Springs office. This position serves as the first point of contact for clients accessing CEDP services and plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, safe, and trauma-informed experience for everyone who enters our office. This is an in-person, client-facing position with approximately 75% of the role focused on direct client interaction and about 25% focused on front office operations and administrative support.

Clients come to CEDP from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences and may be navigating significant stress, crisis, or trauma. The Front Desk Coordinator approaches each person with empathy and respect while also maintaining appropriate boundaries, following safety protocols, and applying de-escalation intervention for challenging situations.

In this role you will:

Provide Client Experience & Front Desk Support

Serve as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and community members entering the office.

Warmly greet clients and visitors and help create a welcoming, respectful, and trauma-informed environment.

Conduct and log initial client intakes at CEDP’s Colorado Springs office, and refer clients to the correct programs

Conduct and accurately document in-person client intakes using tools such as the office tracker, sign-in sheets, HubSpot, and other internal systems.

Use Slack and email for shift handoffs, updates, and internal communication.

Stay informed on CEDP services to support accurate client referrals.

Coordinate check disbursements following internal protocols.

Use trauma-informed communication, active listening, boundary-setting, and de-escalation techniques to support clients while maintaining a safe environment

Recognize situations that require additional support and appropriately escalate concerns to supervisors, safety personnel, other staff, or the Family Success Center

Build understanding of resources in Colorado Springs and capture community needs that are not being met by resources

Work directly in person with clients for program intake, this can include working community events, outside normal business hours - evenings and/or weekends, at various sites throughout El Paso County or at CEDP Offices.

Provide Office Operations & Administrative Support

Ensure office and shared spaces are clean, stocked, and inviting.

Restock office and supply areas; update inventory sheets and notify the Director of Safety of low supplies.

Receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages.

Prepare shared spaces for meetings, internal events, or programs.

Support with data entry, email and Slack communication, and general administrative tasks.

Monitor Slack channels for shift updates, check arrivals, and coverage needs.

Assist with additional tasks as needed to ensure a positive client experience.

Participate in CEDP’s ongoing efforts to improve upon existing processes by maintaining openness and curiosity about processes, systems and technologies

Position Requirements:

2–3 years of direct client-facing experience in a setting such as social work, case management, behavioral health, healthcare/hospital, community services, customer service, front desk/reception, or a related field

Ability to work in-person in CEDP’s CO Springs office Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (verbal) - required

Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully and effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences

Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed and de-escalation principles when interacting with clients who may be experiencing emotional distress, crisis, trauma, or other challenging circumstances

Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and contribute to a team-oriented work environment

Fantastic organizational skills and ability to self-manage and prioritize a complex workload with rapidly changing demands

Demonstrated proficiency working with Customer Relationship Management databases or similar tracking and organizing technologies

High emotional intelligence and professionalism with a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and public service

Coordinators are expected to arrive on time, work independently, follow safety protocols, and maintain a welcoming, organized office space

A self-starter, with proven ability to identify, propose, and implement process improvements

Ability to develop, implement, and manage office standards and policies

Familiarity with Excel, Word, Google Suite, slack and experience with CRM systems like HubSpot

Additional Details:

Candidates must reside in Colorado, ideally within the greater Colorado Springs area.

An hourly rate of $30.46, plus a $1,000 per year in-person pay differential

Employees who utilize two languages or more at work are eligible for a $2,000 differential per year added to their pay listed above. Language assessment will be conducted by the organization as a requirement to receive the differential

All employees are eligible for a technology stipend of $720 per year
