Brown & Brown is seeking a Binding Authority Renewal Underwriter to join our growing team in Morristown, NJ.

The Personal Lines, Renewal Underwriter, quotes renewal business in a timely, efficient, professional, and accurate manner, all the while being responsible for growing revenues. This position interacts with company and retail agent personnel in a diplomatic and knowledgeable manner to establish positive relationships, increase revenues, and retain policies upon expiration. In concert with other renewal underwriters, is responsible for production and profitability results of the renewal business segment of the Personal Lines department.

How You Will Contribute:

Process Personal Lines renewal business in a timely and efficient manner to grow revenues and maintain retention and profitability.

Examines such documents as application forms, insurance maps, and loss experience to determine degree of risk from such factors as applicant financial standing, business operation exposure, and value and condition of property. Requests additional information, if necessary, and accepts or rejects risks in conformance with company guidelines.

Underwrites renewal business by reviewing insured’s files, producing agency experience, nature and frequency of losses and prior carrier loss experience.

Ensure that all required information is obtained, proper applications are completed, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately, state filings (where applicable) are made, and taxes paid in accordance with appropriate state laws.

Review inspection reports to ensure all the information provided by broker is accurate; no additional exposure other than presented. Also, advise brokers regarding recommendation and recommendation compliance.

Advise brokers with adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and any non-renewal notices.

Ensure that all required information is obtained, proper applications are completed, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately, state filings (where applicable) are made.

Keep track of policy renewal dates and send out notices (if applicable) in a timely manner.

Service and perpetuate existing renewal business, process renewal business, and have a keen awareness of priorities.

Assist in the training of other personnel as directed, not limited to instructing and training processors and assistants.

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

Required

Minimum education required a High School Diploma or GED

Proficient with MS Office Suite

Exceptional telephone demeanor

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

2 – 3 years' experience in a similar position

Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) from four-year college or university or equivalent industry experience.

Working towards or holds a valid P&C License

Pay Range

55,000.00 - 60,000.00 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
