Building Envelope QA/QC Technician

About Bothwell-Accurate

Bothwell-Accurate Co. Ltd. has been a leader in roofing, waterproofing, cladding and glazing services across British Columbia and Ontario for over 90 years. With more than 60,000 completed projects, we're known for delivering high-quality, innovative and reliable building envelope solutions to commercial, industrial and institutional clients.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Building Envelope QA/QC Technician to join our team at our Surrey facility. This role will play an important part in maintaining high-quality standards across our manufacturing and field operations, ensuring that fabricated materials and installed building envelope systems meet project specifications and industry requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on inspections, problem-solving, and working closely with production and construction teams. The position will initially focus on quality assurance and control within our manufacturing facility, with opportunities to expand into field inspections across the Lower Mainland.

What You'll Do

Conduct quality control inspections throughout the fabrication and assembly of curtain wall systems, glazing components, cladding panels, and custom sheet metal products

Review fabrication processes, shop drawings, engineering specifications, and quality standards to ensure compliance with project requirements

Inspect fabricated assemblies for dimensional accuracy, alignment, fastening, gasket installation, structural silicone applications, and overall workmanship

Develop, maintain, and implement quality assurance procedures, inspection checklists, and standard operating procedures to support consistent production standards

Monitor manufacturing processes, equipment calibration records, and assembly methods to identify potential quality concerns and prevent defects

Inspect incoming materials, including glass, metals, and other building envelope components, to verify compliance with project specifications, material certifications, and bills of materials

Collaborate with Shop Foremen and production teams to communicate quality expectations and provide guidance on proper fabrication and assembly practices

Conduct site inspections and quality control assessments for glazing, cladding, and commercial roofing installations as required

Coordinate and witness applicable quality testing, including water penetration testing, pull-out testing, and air/vapour barrier inspections

Identify, document, and track deficiencies, fabrication errors, and non-conforming materials, ensuring corrective actions are completed

Prepare and maintain inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), deficiency lists, and other quality control documentation

Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Shop Foremen, and Site Superintendents to address quality concerns and resolve technical issues

Support employee training and onboarding by communicating quality standards, inspection requirements, and best practices

Maintain accurate quality assurance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and field operations

Support the development and expansion of the company's QA/QC processes across multiple projects and job sites

What You Bring to the Team

Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field

A recognized trade certification in glazing, sheet metal, roofing, or a related construction trade, combined with relevant QA/QC experience, will also be considered

Minimum 2–3 years of quality assurance or quality control experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, or a related industry

Experience working in a manufacturing facility, fabrication shop, or assembly environment involving architectural or building envelope systems

Strong understanding of commercial glazing, curtain wall systems, architectural cladding, sheet metal fabrication, and roofing systems

Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, engineering specifications, and technical documentation

Experience conducting quality inspections, identifying deficiencies, and documenting corrective actions

Proficiency in using measuring and inspection tools, including calipers, tape measures, squares, and gauges

Familiarity with the BC Building Code, NAFS standards, and RCABC requirements applicable to building envelope systems

Experience developing or maintaining quality assurance procedures, inspection checklists, and technical reports

Strong organizational and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with production teams, field crews, and management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar construction management software is considered an asset

Professional certifications or training through IIBEC, CSA, ASQ, or similar industry organizations are considered an asset

Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence with the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Lower Mainland
