Internship Program Overview:

Summary of Role: GlobalFoundries in Essex, VT is seeking a Building System Engineer intern in Essex, VT.

Essential Responsibilities:

• •Operates, monitors and maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces facilities mechanical components and systems such as mechanical equipment, Process Cooling Water systems, and exhaust HVAC systems.
• •Oversees the Building Technician as well as the preventive maintenance program.
• •Develops and implements capital improvement projects, such as construction, remodeling, renovation, improvements and maintenance of Building equipment, including preliminary concept development, detailed engineering design and providing scope of work for bidding.
• •Conducts periodic inspections of work in progress and advises construction supervisors and contractors on plans and specifications.
• •Inspects and maintains existing facilities equipment and prepares reports on the condition, deficiencies observed, designs necessary for repairs and estimated cost of repairs.
• •Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements
• •Work and collaborate with other projects and/or assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education – Actively pursuing a Computer Science / Engineering or, Electrical Engineering Degree or related field.

Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Fluency in English Language – written & verbal

Physical Capacity Demands – Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior related internship or co-op experience

Demonstrated troubleshooting skills / technical aptitude

Industrial / Commercial System experience

Understanding of system design parameters, safety / environmental shutdown scenarios, and electronic control of equipment

Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong planning & organizational skills.
