Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of the world’s leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland. AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Business Development Director to join the Transportation team based in Dublin. The grade will depend on the experience and skills of the individual candidate.

We focus on innovative design and technical excellence at AtkinsRéalis, fostering a trusted partner approach to delivery with our clients. We are looking for a Business Development Director who will drive sustainable revenue growth through the development and execution of market-facing business development strategies across all Transportation sectors, and particularly in Rail. The role will focus on identifying and securing new opportunities, strengthening client relationships, leading strategic pursuits, and enhancing the consultancy’s market position across targeted sectors.

The Business Development Director will work closely with operational and delivery teams to convert opportunities into profitable business while supporting long-term client account development. The role will require input and leading certain bids as bid manager and bid director and assuming the Key Account Manager role for specific clients.

Your role

  • Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
  • Identify new markets, clients, frameworks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Lead opportunity qualification and Go/No-Go decision processes.
  • Contribute and deliver annual sales and revenue targets.
  • Lead specific bids as bid manager or bid director.
  • Undertake bid reviews and share best practice.

About you

  • Educated to degree level (level 8/9 engineering degree).
  • Relevant years’ postgraduate experience, primarily in an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Experience in leading the pursuit of major multi-disciplinary infrastructure bids in Ireland/UK or Europe.
  • Experience as Key Account Management Manager for key infrastructure clients.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo and think outside the box.
  • Effective communicator (written, verbal & presentations).
  • A passion to develop and build client relationships.
  • Full driving licence.
