Business Development Manager –
Mixers
Location: UK&I - Remote
At Xylem, we’re committed to solving water challenges through innovation, expertise, and strong customer partnership. Within our Flygt brand, we provide market-leading mixing solutions for public utility and industrial applications. We are now looking for a Business Development Manager – Mixers to help drive profitable growth across the region.
This is a highly customer-facing, field-based sales role focused on developing opportunities within the installed base. We are looking for someone who enjoys being out with customers, visiting sites, carrying out equipment surveys, inspecting mixer installations, and advising clients on upgrade and replacement opportunities that improve operational performance and reliability.
This role will suit a commercially minded sales professional who is confident on client sites and comfortable engaging directly with operators, engineers, and decision-makers. It is ideally suited to someone who thrives in shorter-cycle, operational sales activity and enjoys identifying practical solutions for customers, rather than managing long, complex Capex project discussions.
In this role, you will take ownership of regional sales growth for the Flygt Mixer product line, with a strong focus on Opex-driven opportunities and installed base development. You will build relationships with customers across the region and act as a trusted advisor by understanding their operational challenges and identifying where upgrades, replacements, or improvements are needed.
A key part of the position will involve visiting client sites, carrying out surveys and inspections of installed mixers, and providing clear, credible feedback to customers on equipment condition, risks, and recommended actions. You will use these insights to generate opportunities, build a strong sales pipeline, and convert business in a way that delivers value for both the customer and Xylem.
You will also support channel partners where relevant, contribute market and competitive insight, and collaborate closely with internal teams including sales, product management, and marketing to help strengthen our position in the market.
We are looking for a sales professional with experience in a technical, industrial, or mechanical equipment environment. Experience within water, wastewater, treatment, pumping, mixing, or related process applications would be highly advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a field-based role and motivated by direct customer engagement. You should enjoy visiting customer sites, assessing equipment and applications, and turning technical observations into commercial opportunities. You will be confident presenting recommendations to clients and building credibility through a practical, solutions-focused approach.
This is not a role for someone primarily motivated by long-cycle Capex project sales. Instead, we are looking for someone who is energised by front-line customer interaction, operational sales activity, and helping clients make informed decisions around maintenance, upgrades, and replacement needs.
Key skills and experience
You will likely bring experience in business development, technical sales, account management, or application sales within an industrial or engineering-led environment. You should have strong customer-facing skills and be confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders on site and in commercial discussions.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience in technical or industrial sales, ideally within water, wastewater, pumping, mixing, or related equipment markets.
- A strong customer-facing approach and confidence working directly on client sites.
- The ability to carry out site surveys, inspect installed equipment, and identify upgrade or replacement opportunities.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to building and converting a sales pipeline.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present practical recommendations clearly and credibly.
- A hands-on, self-starting style with the ability to work independently across a regional territory.
- The ability to build trust quickly and develop strong long-term customer relationships.
