About The Role
We’re looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) to drive growth at Fora by bringing new advisors onto our platform. You’ll be on the front lines connecting with people who want to become travel advisors, converting inbound leads and running targeted outbound campaigns to reach potential advisors who haven’t yet discovered Fora.
This role comes with a quota and the ownership that goes with it. This is a high-volume, phone-first role: you’ll make 100-150 calls a day and close advisors on the phone. You’ll be measured on advisor signups each quarter, manage your own pipeline, and work closely with our Growth team on new advisor acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
Qualify and engage inbound leads: Identify leads with a high potential to be successful with Fora, engaging them quickly via phone and email to address questions and motivate them to apply and join.
Run outbound outreach: Identify prospects in high-potential audiences and engage them primarily by phone, supported by personalized emails, LinkedIn messages, and other channels.
Close on the phone: Run discovery and signup conversations live, handle questions and objections in the moment, and guide qualified advisors through to a completed signup.
Own your pipeline: Manage daily lead follow-up and CRM updates in HubSpot with accuracy and attention to detail.
Own your number: Take ownership of a quarterly signup goal, and consistently meet your weekly and monthly goals for outreach activity and lead nurture, including a daily volume of 100-150 calls.
Partner with Marketing: Share insights on lead quality, common questions and objections, and creative messaging opportunities for better conversion.
Test and iterate: Experiment with messaging, timing, and sequencing to improve connect and conversion rates.
Support operational excellence: Together with RevOps and product, help optimize workflows, reporting, and automations to improve conversion rates and reduce manual work.
Requirements
1-3 years of experience in sales, consulting, customer success, marketing, or hospitality
A persuasive communicator who loves people and connects with them.
Comfortable making 100-150 calls a day and closing deals over the phone, with the resilience to handle rejection and keep your energy up through a high-volume day.
A track record of hitting or exceeding targets, whether in sales or another role where you were measured on results.
Energized by hitting (and beating!) goals and metrics.
Organized, persistent, and motivated to follow up until you get an answer.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Passionate about travel—it’s a plus if you’re the travel planner of your group (or a Fora advisor yourself)
Comfortable with tools like HubSpot, Google Sheets, or similar CRMs and data platforms (or excited to learn them).
Your First 90 Days
First 30 days: Complete onboarding, learn how Fora advisors earn and how their signups drive bookings, and shadow calls with the other BDRs. Start working inbound leads in HubSpot.
First 60 days: Carry your own inbound pipeline, close your first advisors on the phone, and work toward your quarterly signup goal with regular coaching from the Director of Sales.
First 90 days: Carry your full quarterly signup goal, keep your weekly activity consistent at 200-250 calls a day and your HubSpot records clean, and bring insights on lead quality and messaging back to Marketing.
Team and Career Path
You’ll report to the Director of Sales and work alongside three other BDRs. Strong performers can progress into a Senior BDR or Account Executive (AE) role over time.
Compensation
Compensation for this role varies based on experience, with an indicative range of $70-$90K base salary and $110-$130K on-target earnings (OTE), plus equity. Variable compensation is based on quarterly signup goals and paid out twice a year, with accelerators for performance above goal.
Other benefits include:
Unlimited vacation
Health Insurance (including an option completely covered by Fora HQ)
Dental & Vision Insurance
Wellhub Memberships
401k plan with company match
Commuter Benefits
Supplemental Life Insurance
Stock Options
This role is based in our beautiful New York City office (Tribeca/Fidi) with lots of natural light and great views.
