About the Position

PCS is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports using data from multiple sources including Oracle, SQL Server, Salesforce, and Excel.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen, particularly within the insurance domain (e.g., premiums, claims). This individual is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment, partnering directly with stakeholders and executive leadership to deliver accurate, actionable insights.

This role operates with a high degree of ownership and autonomy and requires adaptability, someone who is open to learning new tools, exploring different approaches, and selecting the right technology to solve data challenges efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Build and manage data models, including developing efficient DAX measures and calculations
  • Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Salesforce, Excel)
  • Analyze insurance-related data such as premiums, claims, and underwriting performance
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, refine, and translate requirements into effective reporting solutions
  • Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership in a clear, concise, and business-relevant manner
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of data across all reporting assets
  • Proactively identify data issues, discrepancies, and anomalies, and drive resolution
  • Optimize performance of dashboards, queries, and data models
  • Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests in a dynamic environment
  • Explore and implement alternative solutions (e.g., scripting, automation, or new tools)
  • Prepare and deliver executive-ready datasets and reports in Excel

Excel & Executive Reporting

  • Build and maintain structured, presentation-ready Excel reports for leadership
  • Use advanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, formulas, lookups)
  • Transform raw data into clean, intuitive, and formatted outputs
  • Ensure alignment between Excel deliverables and BI dashboards
  • Respond to time-sensitive executive requests

Data Quality & Validation

  • Validate and reconcile data across systems (Oracle/SQL Server vs. Salesforce)
  • Perform root cause analysis on discrepancies
  • Apply best practices for QA, reconciliation, and documentation
  • Partner with upstream data teams to resolve issues
  • Ensure reporting outputs are reliable and auditable

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Work with business leaders and executives to understand needs
  • Translate ambiguous requirements into structured solutions
  • Communicate insights in a clear, business-friendly manner
  • Present findings and respond to stakeholder questions
  • Provide thoughtful pushback when needed
  • Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Education

  • 3–5 years of experience in BI or data analytics
  • Strong Power BI experience including DAX and modeling
  • Proficiency in SQL (Oracle and/or SQL Server)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reporting)
  • Experience with Salesforce and Excel data
  • Data validation and data quality experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience presenting to executive stakeholders
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Insurance industry experience (claims, premiums, underwriting)
  • Python for analysis or automation
  • M365 tools (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate)
  • Data warehousing and ETL knowledge
  • Experience with large datasets
