Busser

Description

Umami Riot was born from a simple idea: pair joyful hospitality with uncompromising craftsmanship. Founded by Chef Tim Cushman and sake expert Nancy Cushman, our restaurants celebrate bold flavor, precision, and a deep respect for Japanese foodways – translated through a distinctly Boston lens. At Umami Riot, we’re not here to follow the rules of hospitality, we’re here to rewrite them – with heart, craft and fearless creativity.

We’re looking for a Busser who keeps the house sharp, the flow strong, and the energy up.

THE GIG (AKA WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY BE DOING)

• •Rhythm-setter for the dining room, keeping service moving smoothly and making busy feel effortless
• •Fast, aware, and always in motion — the quiet force behind clean table turns and seamless flow
• •A guest-ready dinning room maintained at all times: polished tables, clean floors, and sharp presentation
• •Strong support of servers and runners, jumping in to keep service fluid and stress-free
• •Service stations kept stocked, organized, and dialed in, with opening and closing duties handled with follow-through
• •Reliable, high-energy presence every shift — bringing hustle, holding sanitation standards high, and owning nights, weekends, and holidays

THIS ROLE IS A GREAT FIT IF…

• •You like to move with purpose and stay in the flow
• •You take pride in being the reason service feels seamless
• •You spot what needs clearing, resetting, or refreshing before anyone asks
• •You work fast, stay sharp, and keep your cool
• •You thrive in buzzing, high-energy rooms
• •You believe great hospitality starts behind the scenes
• •You bring hustle, awareness, and good vibes every shift

Requirements

LET’S SET EXPECTATIONS (IN A GOOD WAY)

This is a high energy restaurant where the pace is constant, the room stays lively, and the floor never really slows down.

Yes — this is a hands-on role. You’ll be on your feet for long shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, and moving easily through tight spaces. A disciplined commitment to sanitation, safety, and cleanliness is part of the craft here, and we’re committed to providing reasonable accommodations to support individuals in performing the essential functions of the role.

WHY PEOPLE STICK AROUND

• •Competitive hourly pay & pooled tips - because your work matters
• •Dining discounts across all Umami Riot locations
• •Growth that’s real (not just talked about)
• •A team culture rooted in respect, creativity, and heart

Pay: $7.00 plus tips
