Description

Overview

As an CAD Technician, you will play a crucial role in the estimation of bids by creating accurate and detailed construction drawings and models. Your expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting will contribute significantly to the successful preparation of bids and enhance the overall efficiency of our construction projects.

Responsibilities

CAD Drafting and Design:

Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to create precise and detailed construction drawings, plans, and models.
Develop 2D and 3D drawings that accurately reflect project requirements, specifications, and design intent.
Collaborate closely with the Sales and Estimating team to understand project scope and requirements.
Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material lists based on the construction drawings.

Drawing Revisions and Updates:

Review and revise drawings based on internal and external feedback and markups.
Ensure that all drawings are up-to-date with the latest changes and revisions.
Coordinate with the Estimator to incorporate changes into the cost estimation process.

Drawing Coordination:

Work with other internal teams to obtain necessary information for drawing creation and revision.
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to resolve questions and design-related issues.
Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather relevant design information and integrate it into the drawings.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct thorough checks and reviews of construction drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and resolve any design conflicts or discrepancies.

Documentation Management:

Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of construction drawings, plans, and related documents.
Assist in managing the drawing control process, including tracking revisions and maintaining version control.

Technical Support:

Provide technical assistance to the Sales and Estimating department on drawing-related inquiries and challenges.
Stay updated on the latest CAD software advancements and techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project-related discussions as required.
