The Cardiopulmonary Support Technician (U) transports patients safely and efficiently using appropriate transportation equipment, body mechanics, and personal demeanor. An employee in this position maintains adequate levels of inventory in the department, ensures that all equipment is set up correctly in carts, and assists with the room turnover. Must possess sound knowledge of regulating devices, transport/handling of medical gases. The incumbent also fosters a smooth working relationship with all department staff

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Performs a variety of tests on patients related to the pulmonary and cardiovascular systems.

2. Completes specific tests on patients, monitors heart rates and vital signs, and prepares patients for tests and procedures.

3. Uses sophisticated equipment, such as electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, and sonograms, to allow physicians to diagnose and treat heart or lung related medical illnesses and diseases.

4. Maintains, prepares, and sanitizes equipment, ensuring equipment is functioning properly before each use.

5. Monitors patients and ensures they are comfortable during the testing procedure.

6. Assists physicians and surgeons during procedures to monitor equipment.

7. Prepares patients for medical procedures by gathering medical histories.

8. Schedules appointments and explains procedures to the patients.

9. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate degree in relevant field required

Certification and Licensing:

Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required

- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.

- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

- Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
