Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, provides, and documents services for Cardiovascular Lab patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures; uses professional clinical judgment in assisting the physician to plan the care for the patient based on the assessment of the patient's diagnosis, and diagnostic findings.
- Operate, monitors, records, evaluates, and maintains patient information.
- Meets challenges of case volumes and patient care issues to ensure optimal care and outcomes; works in an organized and timely
- fashion by prioritizing tasks to ensure efficient and efficacious patient care.
- Ensures quality and accuracy of reported data; reports variances and critical findings to physician and ensures that reporting has been addressed; ensures all recorded data is accurate and makes corrections as needed.
- Operates, inspects, troubleshoots and performs routine maintenance for variety of lab equipment; effectively operates all devices utilized in procedures; initiates maintenance or service request for equipment that is damaged or malfunctioning.
- Performs daily room QCs and notifies appropriate people of variances; prepares lab room and equipment for daily use and each procedure; ensures that stock on hand is sufficient to accommodate routine daily patient volumes; conducts in-room inventory and supply management; is aware of and stores all patient care products according to established regulations and standards.
- Documents, retrieves and verify data necessary for patient records.
- Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings; support the development of other staff and formal learners.
- Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities activities.
- Adhere to standards including but not limited to unit and Navicent Health policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or the ability to sit for certification within 90 days of hire. This certification ensures that, at a minimum, the applicant has completed the additional requirements associated with RCS, including participation in at least 100 cardiac ultrasound studies.
Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Required:
Two years or more experience as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be
- able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have
- functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds,
- specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the
- other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy
- atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able
- to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously. Must be able to assist
- co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and
- conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner. If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must
- pass the cardiac recovery test. Works in hospital and clinical environments. May work in extreme heat with hot materials. Must be able to
- utilize appropriate universal and specific precautions for protection from potential exposure to infectious or communicable diseases.
