the posting
As Category Manager Machinery , you shape the development of an international product category serving dealers and agricultural customers across Europe. You translate customer needs, market developments and performance data into clear assortment choices and commercial category plans. From wear parts and affordable alternatives to selected OE partnerships and new technical solutions, your decisions determine where we invest, what we offer and how we create profitable growth.
You will develop and execute a category plan based on customer needs, market developments and commercial performance. You make clear choices about assortment, brands, product introductions and phase-outs, working closely with Buying, Sales and Marketing. Using data and market insight, you turn opportunities into commercially sound plans and measurable results.
What is your role?
- Category strategy and planning – Develop and execute the plan for your Machinery segment, translating company strategy and customer needs into clear priorities, initiatives and targets.
- Assortment and lifecycle management – Shape a relevant and profitable portfolio, making evidence based decisions on assortment gaps, brand and price tiers, new product introductions and phase-outs.
- Market and customer insight – Monitor customer behaviour, competitor activity, market developments and new technologies, and translate these insights into concrete opportunities.
- Commercial performance – Monitor sales, margin, profitability, stock performance and other key indicators. Identify underperformance early and initiate corrective action.
- Business development and activation – Build business cases for new ranges and propositions and work with Sales and Marketing to bring them successfully to market.
- Cross-functional leadership – Bring together Buying, Pricing, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Product Quality & Compliance to turn the category plan into results.
- Partner development – Work with the Category Buyer and selected suppliers or brand partners to strengthen the portfolio and develop new opportunities.
You report to the Head of Machinery and join an international team of Category Managers, Category Buyers, Category Specialists and Supplier Specialists. You work particularly closely with the Category Buyer responsible for the same portfolio: you lead the commercial and assortment direction, while your colleague leads sourcing and supplier negotiations.
Who are you
- You have a bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in category management, product management or another commercially responsible role, preferably involving a technical product portfolio.
- You combine commercial judgement with strong analytical skills and can turn data and market insight into clear decisions and actions.
- You are comfortable making choices, building business cases and taking ownership from plan through implementation.
- You are familiar with agricultural machinery, construction equipment, automotive, technical wholesale or a related industry is an advantage, not a requirement.
- You communicate confidently in English and are comfortable working in an international environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Buying, Sales, Marketing and other stakeholders.
