Job Summary:

To ensure efficient operation of our central plant and related equipment. To maintain the functionality and safety of UMMC’s critical infrastructure including, boilers, chillers and pumps.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience with operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, utility systems, or industrial mechanical equipment.

Certifications, Licenses, or Registration required:

Valid Driver's License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Vocational or technical training in stationary engineering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers and HVAC systems; Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems; Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and in a team, including on-call and rotating shift schedules; Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• •​Operate and maintain central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and related systems.
• •Monitor and adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• •Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on central plant equipment.
• •Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and system failures.
• •Perform necessary repairs or coordinate and collaborate with other facilities technicians on complex repairs.
• •Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, and assist in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• •Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs, as well as detailed logs of central plant operations and maintenance activities.
• •Implement energy-saving measures and strategies to reduce operational costs.
