Job Description:

• •Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• •Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• •Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• •Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• •Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• •Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• •Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• •Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• •Helps in draping sterile field.
• •Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• •Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• •Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• •Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• •Interpersonal Skills [Required]
• •Completion of validation skills [Required]
• •Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set up [Required]
• •Knowledge of sterilization techniques [Required]
• •Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team [Required]
• •Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit [Required]
• •Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred]

Education:

• •High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• •Technical/Vocational School [Required]
• •Associate [Preferred]

Field of Study:

Technical/Vocational or Associate's in Surgical Technology

Work Experience:

2+ years as certified surgical tech [Preferred]

Additional Information:

Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.

• •NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required]

Pay Range:

$24.24 - $45.09
