Description
- Alliance for Community Transformations is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and community-focused Child & Youth Advocate to join our Youth & Family Services team in Mariposa County! This is a paid advocacy position primarily supporting CASA of Mariposa, with additional responsibilities supporting the Mariposa Family Resource Center and Grit & Grace. We're looking for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children, youth, and families, enjoys building strong relationships, and is comfortable balancing direct advocacy with community outreach and program support. This is a grant-funded, limited-term position with funding currently secured through June 30, 2027. The agency intends to reapply for continued funding; however, future funding is not guaranteed. Employment beyond June 30, 2027, is contingent upon the availability of funding and continued program needs.
- Child & Youth Advocacy: Maintain an assigned CASA caseload, build consistent, trusting relationships with children and youth involved in the child welfare system, and provide ongoing support through regular visits and communication. Advocate for their safety, well-being, permanency, and best interests by identifying individual needs, connecting youth with resources, collaborating with caregivers, social workers, schools, and service providers, attending authorized court hearings and case-related meetings, and completing required case documentation
- Community Outreach & Engagement: Participate in outreach events, presentations, volunteer recruitment, and community activities while building partnerships with schools, businesses, and local organizations to increase awareness of available services
- CASA Program Support: Assist with volunteer coordination, training activities, case documentation, reporting, and daily program operations to strengthen advocacy services and support program goals
- Family Resource Center & Grit & Grace Support: Assist with family engagement, resource referrals, community events, retail operations, marketing, social media, and promotional activities that increase program awareness and community involvement
- Program Coordination: Support event planning, outreach calendars, program documentation, reporting, and administrative activities to ensure programs operate effectively
Requirements
- Passion for advocating for children and youth, particularly those who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, or involvement in the child welfare system
- Experience working with children, youth, families, or vulnerable populations preferred
- Knowledge of child welfare services, dependency court proceedings, trauma-informed care, and community resources preferred
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with children and youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Ability to manage an assigned CASA caseload, maintain consistent contact with youth, and complete accurate, timely case documentation
- Comfortable with public speaking, community outreach, presentations, and building relationships with community partners
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with a team
- Compassionate, dependable, proactive, flexible, and committed to supporting children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, electronic documentation, and social media platforms
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
- Willingness to complete and maintain required CASA training, background clearances, and ongoing professional development
- Willingness to travel throughout Mariposa County and surrounding communities, including occasional travel outside the county
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency driving requirements
