Summary:

Individual assists the research nurse/coordinator in conducting clinical trials. The research assistant is responsible for collecting, processing storing and handling clinical specimens, scheduling study patients for follow-up, and collecting, recording, and filing clinical data.

Responsibilities:

  • Documents on case report forms
  • Retrieve medical records (electronic and/or paper records)
  • May collect clinical data such as vital signs, EKG recordings, weights, etc.
  • Perform phlebotomy as directed by the study plan and transport specimens to the laboratory
  • Accurately enter data in sponsor portals
  • Maintain accurate files and organized records for sponsor audits
  • Collect specimens, process, store and ship blood/tissue specimens as required by study.
  • Collect source documents
  • File and pull study records as needed by physicians, research nurse and study monitors
  • Schedule study appointments for patients
  • Triage research-related phone calls to the proper source
  • Responsible for long-term follow-up
  • Performs other functions as required.

Qualifications:

  • HS/GED
  • 2 yrs of research experience; or Medical Assistant (prefer certified)/Laboratory Technician with at least 6 months of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualification: Certified Phlebotomist
