Description

About The Bernstein Companies

The Bernstein Companies (“TBC”) is a fourth generation, family owned commercial real estate firm founded in Washington, DC in 1933. TBC is a vertically integrated owner, developer and operator across multifamily, hospitality and office, with more than $4 billion in transaction history and a $3 billion plus tax credit platform.

The Opportunity

The Bernstein Companies is seeking a highly organized, numbers oriented professional to support the loan administration and financial processes behind our commercial real estate portfolio.

Working directly with our Vice President of Finance and Administration, you will help keep loans, closings and lender requirements moving by tracking information and deadlines, coordinating reports and documentation, and following up with lenders, attorneys and internal teams.

This is an excellent next step for someone with experience in loan operations, servicing, credit administration or another back office banking role who wants broader exposure to commercial real estate. We are also open to exceptional recent graduates who are strong with numbers and details and eager to learn. Approximately half of the role focuses on loan administration and half on supporting the operational needs of our corporate office.

What You’ll Do

Commercial Real Estate Loan Administration

  • Support loan closings and ongoing administration, tracking deadlines and following up on outstanding items.
  • Coordinate third party reports and documentation with lenders, attorneys, vendors and internal teams.
  • Maintain loan tracking information, lender reporting requirements and organized loan and closing files.
  • Coordinate signatures, document delivery and other loan related processes.

Office Management & Administrative Support

  • Support corporate office operations, including office supplies, invoice processing and coding, document scanning and records management.
  • Proactively monitor office needs and support special projects and other administrative needs.
  • Provide backup support for corporate voicemail, FedEx and certified mail.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 1 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred, particularly in loan operations, servicing, credit administration, closing/documentation support or commercial banking operations.
  • Exceptional recent graduates with strong analytical ability, attention to detail and comfort with numbers are also encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. A finance, business or real estate degree is not required.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets and financial information.
  • Highly organized, accurate and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proactive with strong follow through and the ability to anticipate next steps and take ownership through completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment and discretion.

Benefits

  • TBC offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including:
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with Company contribution
  • Employer provided life and disability coverage
  • Paid time off and Company holidays

Equal Employment Opportunity

We are an equal opportunity employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
