Comp & AI Artist

We are seeking a visionary Comp & AI Artist with an unyielding critical eye for aesthetics, frame composition, and visual storytelling. In this role, you will bridge high-end compositing, traditional post-production, and cutting-edge generative AI workflows.

The ideal candidate understands that AI is a powerful engine for speed and generation, but achieving cinematic quality, seamless visual consistency, rotoscoping/keying precision, and flawless finishing requires strong human art direction and expert compositing skills.

Suitable candidates with extensive experience will be considered for a Senior role.

Portfolio Requirement

To be considered for this position, candidates MUST submit a video/design portfolio showing past work. This should showcase:

Compositing reels, 2D/3D visual integration, keying, rotoscoping, or video post-production work.

AI-assisted video/image generation workflows combined with manual post-processing, paint-overs, or multi-layer compositing that demonstrate strong control over quality and style.

Key Responsibilities

Art Direction & Curation: Apply a critical artistic eye to evaluate, filter, and refine AI-generated visual assets and video clips, ensuring strict stylistic alignment and visual fidelity.

Compositing & Finishing: Seamlessly integrate AI-generated elements, live-action footage, and 2D/3D assets using industry-standard compositing tools and workflows.

Look Development & Mood: Design the overall visual tone, color grading, lighting setup, and atmospheric mood of sequences based on project briefs.

Concepting & Storyboarding: Produce initial concept frames, scene layouts, and mood boards according to direction from our Head of Production.

Pipeline & Reference Creation: Develop high-quality concept art, look-dev references, and composite templates for 3D, motion graphics, and video teams.

Hybrid Integration: Merge generative AI generation with node-based or layer-based compositing techniques to deliver polished, production-ready final shots.

Requirements

Critical Art Eye: Exceptional instinct for visual quality, color theory, lighting match, perspective, frame composition, and temporal consistency in video.

Compositing & Post-Production Expertise: Strong experience with compositing tools (e. g., Nuke, After Effects, or Fusion) for keying, rotoscoping, tracking, clean-up, and color matching.

AI Workflow Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AI generation tools (e. g., Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, Runway, Pika, or similar) paired with manual retouching skills.

Digital Art & Matte Painting: Digital painting, retouching, and asset prep skills using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Storyboarding & Concept Art: Proven experience in storyboarding, shot framing, and visual design for video, animation, or commercial production.

Field Experience: 2+ years of relevant compositing or video production experience is preferred. Fresh graduates with exceptional portfolios and compositing skills are welcome to apply.

Bonus Skills: Knowledge of 3D software (Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D), Unreal Engine, or Premiere Pro is a major advantage.

Communication: Good team collaboration skills. Fluency in English and Chinese is preferred.

Benefits

5-day work week.

Minimum 10 days of Annual Leave (increases with tenure).

Opportunity to work at the intersection of high-end compositing, video production, and generative AI technology.
