Description

Are you ready to lead transformative land development projects? At DCCM, we are shaping the future of Texas communities by delivering high-quality residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. From site grading and utility infrastructure to roadway construction and community planning, our Land Development Construction group provides practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions that directly impact neighborhoods, municipalities, and private clients.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Inspector with experience in land development and civil engineering to oversee site construction activities and ensure compliance with design plans, specifications, and local regulations. This role plays a critical part in the successful delivery of residential, commercial, and municipal land development projects—covering grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and erosion control. In this role, you will work under the guidance of mentors, providing you with the necessary skills and opportunities to grow in your career.?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections for site development projects, including grading, stormwater systems, water and sewer infrastructure, roadways, sidewalks, and erosion/sediment control measures.
  • Ensure that construction work adheres to approved plans, specifications, permits, and local codes.
  • Monitor contractor performance and workmanship, identifying non-conforming work and documenting deficiencies.
  • Verify material compliance and conduct basic field tests (compaction, concrete slump/air tests, etc.) as needed.
  • Maintain thorough daily inspection reports, photo logs, and progress documentation.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, utility companies, and local agencies to resolve on-site issues.
  • Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings; communicate field observations to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist with punch lists and final inspections for closeout and turnover phases.
  • Ensure safety protocols and environmental regulations are followed on-site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in civil construction inspection, particularly in land development or site infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with local and state civil codes and standards (stormwater, ADA, DOT specs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of civil site elements: grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and erosion control.
  • Proficiency in reading civil engineering plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills—written and verbal—with the ability to interact professionally with contractors and engineers.
  • Working knowledge of inspection tools and reporting software (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam, or inspection apps).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to active construction sites daily.
