Construction Supervisor

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Construction Supervisor to join our team supporting the Portsmouth Site ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Piketon, Ohio.

Responsibilities

Perform construction support job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities include assisting and supporting management in construction, construction support, construction and field engineering. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned.

Plan, schedule, and organize the work to ensure utilization of employees and compliance with all contract requirements, quality standards, safety requirements, and budgetary guidelines.

Ensure staffing levels of supervised personnel are maintained in a manner which allows the effective execution of the assigned scope of work at all times.

Instruct employees on the work methods and performance expectations.

Provide leadership and motivation to subordinate personnel.

Interface with groups inside and outside the organization, senior management, client representatives, and auditors.

Perform assigned special projects.

Responsible for providing direction, training, and evaluation of Construction personnel.

Assist with the development or review/update of various plans, policies, or procedures as needed.

Assist with maintaining positive employee relations.

Responsible for group supervision and administration.

Give presentations to project senior management.

Perform budgetary responsibilities.

Oversee investigations of waste management facilities and evaluate environmental waste transportation, treatment, and disposal vendors for acceptability.

Develop and oversee quality assurance and training programs related to the handling of radioactive and other hazardous waste.

Assist in the preparation and implementing of approved Construction program.

Make decisions independently as required to address and resolve problems and to plan and coordinate work.

Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct the activities related to a specific functional area.

Apply diversified knowledge of construction and technical principles, practices and methods for a range of assignments requiring knowledge and experience with advanced methods, techniques, and procedures.

Initiate contacts with other construction support disciplines as well as projects, design engineers, and outside sources of technical and construction related information.

Provide comprehensive, skilled, professional, construction, and technical support in addressing unique requirements and problems which have an important impact on construction activities.

Initiate and maintain contract with project and engineering management as well as individuals and organizations capable of providing specialized services for unique and unusual requirements.

Supervise and coordinate the activities of other construction support personnel.

Train subordinate personnel.

Have knowledge and expertise obtained through progressive and varied experience in construction and technical activities.

Provide technical and/or functional support to the Construction team.

Maintain knowledge of and demonstrate ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and perform assigned duties in a safe manner. If supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised and ensure they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.

Participate in Safety Work Groups.

Requirements

Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (10 - 15 years).

Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

Experience assisting and supporting management in construction, construction support, construction and field engineering.

Experience planning, scheduling and organizing the work to ensure utilization of employees and compliance with all contract requirements, quality standards, safety requirements and budgetary guidelines.

Experience developing and overseeing quality assurance and training programs related to the handling of radioactive and other hazardous waste.

Experience overseeing investigations of waste management facilities and evaluate environmental waste transportation, treatment and disposal vendors for acceptability.

Experience providing direction, training and evaluation of Construction personnel.

Desired Skills

Prior construction supervision experience from 10 to 15 years desired.

The DOE's Portsmouth Site, located in Piketon, Ohio, strives to effectively implement EM responsibilities, obligations and activities to accomplish environmental remediation actions in compliance with regulatory milestones and agreements; disposition legacy and newly generated waste; implement Cold Shutdown requirements; disposition of depleted uranium hexafluoride cylinders; and perform Decontamination and Decommissioning ( energy.gov ) .
