We Do Consulting Differently

We Do Consulting Differently

BRG is launching a new capital markets group within its Financial Institutions Advisory practice that will focus on helping financial institutions, including broker-dealers, investment advisers, swap dealers, and other capital market participants, solve pressing business, regulatory, and compliance issues. The group includes former regulators, compliance experts, financial modelers, technologists, and former industry professionals, that advise clients with immediate risks to drive tangible benefits.

BRG is currently seeking a Consultant or Managing Consultant to support and oversee engagement workstreams across a range of complex regulatory compliance, risk management, and client advisory projects within the capital markets sector. This is an opportunity to help build a new practice within an established consulting firm. We are looking for professionals who are eager to build on their experience working in the financial services industry and who enjoy using their analytical ability and strong organizational skills to solve complex problems, working directly with clients, and helping to build a growing business.

Responsibilities:

Consultant / Managing Consultant

  • Work directly with senior professionals to execute financial institution advisory projects related to regulatory compliance and risk management. Functional areas of work include supervision, governance, technology and operations enablement, and business process optimization.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of frameworks and methodologies for compliance, supervisory, operational, and regulatory risk management programs.
  • Assess client policies, procedures, and controls against leading practices and industry frameworks. Identify gaps in design and execution, and present actionable recommendations.
  • Plan and execute assigned project tasks and support project administration and day-to-day client communications. Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet engagement goals and deadlines.
  • Apply creative problem-solving and relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop client solutions efficiently. Prepare client deliverables and contribute to expert reports. Present findings and recommendations in coordination with engagement leads.
  • Participate in practice meetings, business development initiatives, and office activities, including staff training and recruiting.
  • Additional Managing Consultant Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of risk-management frameworks and methodologies within assigned engagements or workstreams.
  • Plan and manage client engagements or assigned workstreams, depending on engagement size and complexity. Responsibilities include project administration, contracting, budget management, and day-to-day client relationships.
  • Manage project work by delegating assignments, guiding staff, monitoring progress, and prioritizing work to meet goals and deadlines. Prepare and review deliverables for completeness and accuracy, oversee contributions to expert reports, and present findings and recommendations to client management.
  • Lead assigned business development activities, including proposal preparation and prospective-client presentations, and take an active role in staff training and recruiting.

Qualifications

Consultant / Managing Consultant

  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance, supervision, or risk management within a financial institution, regulatory agency, or consulting firm. Preferred focus on broker-dealers, investment advisers, asset or wealth management firms, swap dealers, or other capital markets businesses.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to prepare clear analyses and presentations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, desire to work within a team environment, and ability to manage processes and other more junior staff, as necessary.
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed.

Additional Managing Consultant Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of direct experience assessing or advising on compliance with applicable SEC, FINRA, CFTC, NFA, or state regulatory requirements and expectations, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in a regulatory agency’s enforcement or examinations division.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk and control assessments, developing process maps and workflows, assessing compliance with capital markets regulations, and conducting markets compliance testing and financial harm analysis.
  • Proven project or program management experience, including planning and coordinating work, guiding staff, reviewing deliverables, and managing client communications.

Consultant Salary Range: $115,000 – $145,000

Managing Consultant: $145,000 – $190,000

Job title and compensation to be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
