Consumer Banking Operations Intern

Job Description:

As an intern, this person will learn the fundamentals of Consumer Banking Operations while supporting projects related to quality assurance, risk management, procedure management, and operational improvement. This position will provide exposure to banking processes, internal controls, regulatory expectations, and opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.

Qualifications: This person should be actively pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree and have completed coursework within their chosen field of study. Strong communication, customer service, attention to detail, and analytical skills are essential. This person should be self-motivated, comfortable working with data and technology, and eager to learn about Consumer Banking. Students from a variety of academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Principal Responsibilities:

Support the review, development, organization, and maintenance of procedures and related documentation.

Assist with risk management activities, including audit or compliance research, documentation, tracking, and follow-up.

Analyze processes and data to identify trends, inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Explore opportunities to automate or streamline manual operational processes.

Assist with testing proposed process, system, or automation enhancements.

Prepare summaries, reports, process maps, and recommendations based on research and analysis.

Gain knowledge of banking products, services, systems, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Develop effective working relationships throughout First Bank & Trust.

Gain skills related to professionalism, analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, customer service, and communication.

Complete special projects as assigned.

Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and honesty, especially in dealing with customer information.

Act in accordance with FBT policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.

Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training and all meetings deemed appropriate by supervisor.
