Job Description:

About Rakuten TV

Rakuten TV is one of Europe's leading video streaming platforms, offering premium transactional (TVOD) and advertising-based (AVOD/FAST) content to millions of users across more than 40 countries. Backed by Rakuten Group — one of the world's largest internet services companies — we operate a cutting-edge B2B2C model, partnering with leading device manufacturers, broadcasters, and advertising networks to deliver premium entertainment experiences.

Headquartered in Barcelona, our international team combines deep expertise in technology, content, sales, and finance to drive continued growth across EMEA. We are a data-driven, fast-paced organization that values intellectual curiosity, ownership, and collaboration.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and driven Content Licensing Manager to join Rakuten TV's AVOD & FAST team, with a focus on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

You will play a key role in driving our content acquisition and FAST channel carriage strategy, securing high-quality content and locally relevant channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Content & Channel Strategy: Execute the content acquisition and FAST channel carriage strategy, ensuring a diverse and compelling slate that meets audience and business objectives.
  • Negotiate & Close Deals: Manage the full lifecycle of content licensing and/or FAST channel carriage agreements, with major studios, distributors, rights holders, and third-party FAST channel providers.
  • Identify New Opportunities: Proactively identify and onboard new locally relevant FAST channels and rightsholder distributors within the DACH market, and potentially other territories.
  • Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and accounts, proactively identifying new opportunities and ensuring smooth collaboration.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with internal departments — Legal, Finance, BI, Programming, Marketing, Media Sales, and Operations — to ensure deals are implemented accurately and all obligations and goals are met.
  • Rights Management: Oversee complex content agreements, including title configurations, release windows, territories, languages, and rights exploitation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in content licensing, acquisition, or distribution, ideally within AVOD and/or FAST environments — either acquiring or distributing FAST channels.
  • Strong understanding of the content landscape, with a good knowledge of both library and recent content, including audience appeal, market trends, and what types of content perform well in AVOD and FAST environments.
  • Strong negotiation and deal management skills, with experience managing complex rights and/or carriage agreements across multiple territories.
  • Excellent account management and relationship-building abilities with studios, distributors, and other content partners.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset, with the ability to combine data and content expertise when assessing acquisition and channel opportunities.
  • Fluent English and German are mandatory; Spanish, Italian or other European languages are a strong plus.
  • Preferably based in Germany. Based in Barcelona (Spain) will also be considered.
