✨ One platform, a whole world of opportunity
The best jobs have always clustered in a handful of the world's wealthiest cities. But talent is everywhere. Oyster set out to close that gap - building a global employment platform that lets companies hire, pay, and care for brilliant people anywhere.
We're proof that a high-performing culture doesn't need an office. Distributed across 60+ countries since 2020, we've built something the industry keeps noticing:
Ranked #10 of 250 on TIME and Statista's 2026 list of America's Top WorkTech Companies
Named one of America's Greatest Startup Workplaces 2026 by Newsweek
A G2 Spring 2026 Leader across Employer of Record, Global Employment, Multi-country Payroll, and HR Compliance
The only B Corp-certified global employment platform ~ independently verified since 2023
Two of those rankings measured our business impact from the outside. One measured how our own people feel about working here. They landed in the same place ~ because at Oyster, culture and performance aren't separate conversations. They're the same one.
And we're just getting started. If you want to do the best work of your career alongside people who care as much as you do, we'd love for you to apply.
Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote and you can work from home. Forever. We're open to candidates based anywhere in the AMER or EMEA regions.
Role Summary
We are hiring a content marketing lead to set the company-wide direction for Oyster’s editorial narrative: the category story we tell about the future of work, the arguments our executives make in public, and the original research that HR, Finance, and Legal leaders cite when making decisions.
You will operate as an AI-first functional lead rather than a traditional editorial manager. There are no direct reports, deliberately. Your leverage will come from the AI systems and governance you design—research agents, brand-voice models, fact-checking, source verification, repurposing, and evaluation—plus the senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, and subject-matter experts you mobilize.
We are looking for the person who wants to find out how much editorial ambition one exceptional operator with a well-built AI stack can carry, and who will set the standard for what an AI-native content function looks like. The scope is unusual for a single role: a live audience across our library, newsletter, and podcast; a leadership team that publishes and speaks; proprietary employment data from 180+ countries; and the mandate to build this function the way it should be built, not the way it has always been done.
Key Responsibilities
Own the narrative
Define Oyster’s long-term editorial and category strategy across Marketing, executive leadership, Product, People, Legal, and customer-facing teams.
Resolve high-stakes narrative trade-offs and establish the positions, evidence standards, and language Oyster uses consistently across business areas.
Own a multi-year editorial roadmap and a focused portfolio of flagship research and thought-leadership bets linked to company strategy.
Act as the final quality bar for voice, accuracy, evidence, and taste across human- and AI-produced content.
Build company-wide AI content mechanisms
Architect and govern reusable systems for research, brand voice, fact-checking, source verification, repurposing, evaluation, and reporting.
Define risk-based rules for where AI leads, where humans lead, and where specialist or executive approval is mandatory.
Establish mechanisms and standards adopted across Marketing and relevant partner teams, not only within the content workflow.
Measure leverage through throughput, cycle time, cost, adoption, quality, and business impact; evolve the system each quarter.
Lead thought leadership and executive voice
Set the operating model for executive publishing and advise leaders on the arguments Oyster should make publicly.
Turn proprietary employment, salary, and hiring data into a durable original-research programme that shapes external conversation.
Mobilize newsletter, podcast, events, PR, analyst relations, Product Marketing, partner/customer storytelling, and social around shared narratives.
Own business impact
Connect editorial and narrative decisions to company growth, customer trust, target-account engagement, earned influence, and pipeline.
Build reporting that enables executives and teams to make better portfolio and investment decisions.
Identify emerging market shifts early and recommend company responses before they become obvious.
Mobilize the extended organization
Set direction for senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, specialists, and subject-matter experts without relying on formal authority.
Create decision rights, operating rhythms, and shared standards that enable multiple teams to execute consistently.
Define the long-term roadmap and future organizational shape of the capability, including what remains expert-led, becomes a system, or requires hiring.
Core Requirements
8+ years in content, editorial, or brand journalism, including senior ownership of a brand narrative or thought leadership programme at a B2B technology company.
Evidence of setting a company or category narrative that changed decisions, earned external authority, and was adopted across teams.
A portfolio of work that earned attention on merit through citations, quotations, debate, or organic sharing.
A demonstrated AI-first practice beyond drafting, including agents, custom workflows, evaluation, QA, governance, and adoption by others.
Exceptional English-language editorial judgment, writing, editing, sourcing, and voice control.
Ability to turn proprietary data and complex research into clear, defensible arguments with business relevance.
Experience making high-leverage trade-offs and setting direction across executives and multiple functions without formal authority.
Proven ability to build scalable mechanisms, operating standards, and roadmaps that enable others to deliver consistently.
Genuine motivation to operate as a high-autonomy IC with no direct reports and company-critical scope.
Bonus
Domain background in HR tech, global employment, future of work, fintech, or another compliance-heavy category.
Experience with AI search visibility — optimising for how assistants retrieve, summarise, and cite sources.
Multimedia range: video, podcast, or design fluency.
Experience standing up an in-house newsroom or an original research programme.
You have worked or lived across multiple markets, or speak more than one language.
This might not be right for you if...
You want a people-management role now rather than a high-autonomy IC remit.
Your AI experience is primarily prompting for drafts rather than building and evaluating systems.
You prefer high-volume production to a small portfolio of high-conviction work.
You are uncomfortable challenging vague, unsourced, or off-voice work—including work from senior stakeholders.
You need a tightly defined execution plan rather than shaping a function under ambiguity.
You'll also need
A reliable home internet connection and fluency in both written and spoken English
