Description

About Imogen Foundation

Imogen Roche Foundation, Inc. (Imogen Foundation or IF) creates learning environments where people feel heard. We build emotional resilience and support mental health in children and teens through project-based learning, social engagement, youth leadership, and literacy.

We believe young people learn and grow through play, exploration, creativity, and meaningful relationships. Our programs create welcoming environments where children feel heard, valued, and connected to one another. Here, they have opportunities to discover their interests, express themselves, build confidence, learn from one another, and participate fully in their communities.

Our values of Imagination, Mentorship, Opportunity, Growth, Empathy, and Nurturing guide our commitment to making these learning environments accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our children, families, and communities.

Position Overview

The Content Specialist supports engaging, age-appropriate programming across all IF afterschool programs. Working under the direction of the Senior Director of Programs & Quality and alongside site leaders, this person helps staff use approved curricula, strengthen lesson plans, and integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Youth Development (PYD) into daily activities.

The Content Specialist provides regular on-site support across IF’s programs, observing activities, reviewing lesson plans, modeling strategies, and offering practical feedback. Working alongside educators, they help strengthen everyday teaching practices and share effective approaches that work across sites, contributing to consistent, engaging, and welcoming experiences for children throughout IF's programs..

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Program Directors to select and organize activities across DYCD-required content areas, including SEL, literacy, STEAM, physical activity, life skills, college and career exploration, and youth leadership.
  • Review lesson plans and help staff make activities engaging, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and connected to clear learning goals.
  • Support IF’s SEL/PYD scope and sequence by helping staff use approved monthly themes, lesson examples, community-building activities, and reflection prompts.
  • Adapt existing resources for the age groups and learning needs served across IF programs; help maintain an organized shared resource bank.
  • Work regularly on-site during program hours to observe activities, offer practical feedback, and model strategies that strengthen instruction, youth engagement, and positive behavior support.
  • Assist with staff training and collaborative planning in coordination with Programs leadership, offering practical guidance and encouragement that help educators build on their strengths.
  • Help staff connect SEL/PYD to enrichment classes and daily routines, with attention to belonging, empathy, student voice, and leadership.
  • Coordinate with site leaders and student-support staff to make activities accessible to students with varied learning and communication needs.
  • Maintain service logs, lesson-plan feedback, and coaching notes; assist with instructional documentation for DYCD monitoring and IF quality reviews.
  • Share staff and student feedback with Programs leadership to inform curriculum adjustments and follow up on agreed next steps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of supervisory or oversight experience.
  • Experience working with children and youth in afterschool or educational settings and supporting lesson planning, instruction, or staff development.
