the posting

We are looking for talented professionals to be a part of a dynamic team. We place a focus on professionalism, kindness, integrity, and a high level of confidentiality, with the goal to deliver best in class service while providing a positive working experience for its staff.

  • About the role
  • We are a private family office managing a diverse portfolio and operations across multiple entities and departments. We're building out a Controllership function to bring close discipline and GL integrity to a growing, complex structure. This is a foundational hire: you'll own the close process end to end and shape the team and systems around it. Due to the critical nature of the work, the Controller would be onsite in our Silicon Valley office 3 days a week.

What you'll own

Monthly, quarterly, and annual close — build and elevate the accounting cycle, checklist, the SLA and quality control steps

GL integrity across all entities — correct coding at the transaction level on a timely manner

AP vendors and other service providers — manage relationships with external accounting and finance partners, and hold them to a close timeline and quality standards

Function design and process judgment — shape and build out the Controllership function. Build structure where it's missing, adapt what's partially working, keep what's good

Reporting architecture — build the department/class structure and reporting rigor that FP&A and department heads rely on

Systems and process optimization — assess where automation and AI-assisted tooling can take manual work out of coding, policy audits, allocation and AP workflow; scope and direct specialist help where it makes sense

Who you'll partner with

FP&A on budget-to-actual alignment and department-facing reporting

Bookkeeping and treasury functions on transaction flow and cash operations

Legal and HR on classification, compliance, and vendor onboarding

External systems and implementation consultants on tooling, automation, and reporting build-outs

What we're looking for

Demonstrated experience owning an outsourced accounting relationship: holding a vendor firm or BPO to a close calendar and an SLA, through process, influence and collaboration.

12+ years in accounting, including 5+ years owning a close end to end across multiple entities. Background spanning structured, full-scale accounting environments (Big 4, large corporate, or similar), with a clear sense of what good controls and process look like

Proven ability to right-size that discipline for a leaner, faster-moving organization — someone who knows the full-scale version and can adapt it to a startup-paced environment without losing the checks and balances that matter

Prior experience in a private family office or similarly discreet organization preferred, not required

Comfortable with ambiguity — building, adapting, and evolving process rather than working from an existing playbook

Strong communicator — able to hold external partners accountable and work cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, HR, and department operators
