Job Description Summary

The Controls Quality team is seeking an experienced Controls Quality Engineer - RCA Leader to drive structured problem-solving activities for turbine controls issues across the product lifecycle. This role is responsible for leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) execution through the 8D methodology, coordinating major event investigations, facilitating cross-functional technical teams, and ensuring timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead turbine controls Root Cause Analyses utilizing the 8D problem-solving methodology.
  • Facilitate cross-functional investigation teams including Controls Engineering, Fleet Performance Management, Service Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Establish investigation charters, timelines, deliverables, and communication plans.
  • Coordinate Major Event Investigations and support issue response activities.
  • Ensure root cause investigations are evidence-based and supported by appropriate technical analysis.
  • Track containment actions, corrective actions, and preventive actions through closure.
  • Escalate investigation roadblocks, resource conflicts, and execution risks to leadership.
  • Identify defect escape pathways and drive improvements to engineering and validation processes.
  • Analyze fleet data, event trends, reliability metrics, and historical failure information to support investigations.
  • Apply structured quality tools including FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and reliability techniques to improve investigation effectiveness.
  • Drive incorporation of lessons learned into validation strategies, engineering standards, and product lifecycle processes.
  • Communicate investigation status, risk assessments, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Support Lean continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen investigation quality and reduce recurrence of field issues.
  • Leverage AI-enabled and data-driven techniques to improve investigation efficiency and insight generation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%
  • The required work location is Greenville, SC, Schenectady, NY, or Barcelona. Relocation assistance provided if needed

Desired Characteristics:

  • 8+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting wind turbine controls systems or complex industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of 8D, RCA, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience analyzing fleet performance and reliability data.
  • Familiarity with Weibull analysis, reliability engineering methods, and statistical techniques.
  • Experience supporting Major Event Investigations or similar high-impact issue response activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams without direct authority.
  • Experience presenting technical recommendations to senior leadership.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
