This is a union-represented, part-time, benefit-eligible cook position in a hospital setting. Enjoy a predictable schedule, meaningful work, and the stability of a healthcare organization.

• •.5 FTE (40 hours every two-week pay period)
• •8-hour day and evening shifts
• •Shifts will include 6a - 230p and 1030a -7p
• •Every other weekend rotation - Saturday and Sunday

Job Description:

Responsible for the preparation of all food served to patients, staff and customers. Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.

Principle Responsibilities

• •Prepares food in a timely, appealing and appetizing manner.
• •Prepares food using standardized recipes and proper cooking methods for patients, staff and special functions.
• •Adequate quantities of food are prepared based on patient need and cafeteria volumes.
• •Understands special diets and consults with dietitian as needed.

• •Uses proper cooking, cooling and reheating techniques to ensure food safety.
• •Checks temperatures regularly prior to serving food.
• •Labels, dates, covers and store food properly.
• •Utilizes sanitizing techniques for food, self and equipment.

• •May assist in restocking work station.
• •May assist in putting away grocery orders.
• •May operate cash register.
• •May assist with menu development.
• •May maintain adequate food stock to meet the menu requirements and patient requests.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• •High school diploma or GED
• •Associate's or Vocational degree in the culinary field
• •0 to 2 years of food service experience

Licenses/Certifications

Certification for Food Safety and Handling upon hire preferred

Physical Demands

• •Medium Work:
• •Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $21.04 to $26.52 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
