Summary

You will serve as a Cook in the Midshipmen Food Service Division of NAVAL ACADEMY.

Duties

  • You will breakdown, and clean advance food service equipment such as food processors, vegetable slicing machines, rotary or combi-ovens, mixers, industrial meat slicers, and other specialized equipment
  • You will utilize Microsoft programs and programming specialized equipment, such as combi-ovens, for use.
  • You will use and apply tables, charts, and lists containing quantitative information.
  • You will breakdown and clean, meter filling stations, cook tanks, vacuum sealers, tumble chillers, and blast chillers.
  • You will follow safety procedures regarding the operation of kitchen equipment to avoid personal injury or damage to the equipment.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Cook without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Preparing large-volume vegetables, salads, and salad dressings using vegetable slicing and dicing machines; 2) Operating volume food preparation equipment including steam-jacketed kettles, deep fat fryers, and woks; and 3) Applying principles of complete food service sanitation during food preparation and cleaning.
