Dining Services at Elizabethtown College is seeking a full-time Cook !

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure quality service and food production for all guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• •Prepare consistent, high quality menu items, including grab-and-go options and the salad bar
• •Operate the cash register as needed
• •Tear down, clean, and sanitize, and reset the Jays Nest at the end of the night for the following morning.
• •Safely and effectively used knives, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• •Always maintain highest levels of safety and sanitation
• •Accurately maintain required sanitation, production, and equipment records
• •Always ensure proper station coverage; cover co-workers breaks, and PTO as needed
• •Train and work alongside student staff
• •Work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
• •Assist other areas within Dining Services as needed
• •Perform other duties as assigned

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• •Attend department meetings and participate in decision-making
• •Assist other areas within dining services
• •Attend conferences to further education
• •Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Associate’s degree from an accredited culinary institute is preferred; plus two years of food service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• •Occasionally required to remain seated in a normal position for long periods of time

• •Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally express information or instructions

The individual is regularly exposed to indoor conditions and moderate noise level; the individual is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather and temperature extremes and chemicals/fumes associated with facility sanitation
