Corporate Counsel, Government and Regulatory Litigation

Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart, experienced, and highly motivated litigator to help manage its worldwide portfolio of government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, and advise the company on a wide variety of legal and business risk management issues.

• Key job responsibilities
• Responsibilities include handling and supervising a wide range of government disputes and regulatory engagements across all of Amazon’s businesses; directly interacting with government officials, including local, state, and federal regulators and law enforcement; directing overall case and matter strategy; selecting and managing outside counsel; assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management; counseling internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal and policy issues; and managing all stages of both affirmative and defensive litigation, including discovery.

Basic qualifications

• - Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• - 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
• - 5+ years of litigation and regulatory experience

Preferred qualifications

• - Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
• - Experience in crisis management and response or equivalent
• - Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
• - Experience at both a law firm and federal or state government agency
• - Federal judicial clerkship
• - Trial experience
• - Familiarity with retail, Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate
• - Proficiency in advising senior executives of an organization
• - Demonstrated sound business judgment
• - Demonstrated high ethical standards and professional integrity

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
