What the Role Is

We are looking for a Corporate Finance Manager to join our growing Finance team! In this role, you will partner with the Director of Corporate Finance, VP of Finance on consolidations, opex, balance sheet and cash flow forecasting, internal business reviews, external board reporting, and ad hoc analyses.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Finance, you will contribute to financial reporting delivered to executive leadership and other stakeholders including our board and investors. This role requires a high degree of independent ownership, rigorous accuracy, and proactive communication — and a hands-on appetite for using AI to automate and improve how we work. The role operates with meaningful autonomy: you frame problems yourself, build the mechanisms that keep budgets and forecasts honest, and bring recommendations rather than questions, often where no template or precedent exists yet. We care more about how you think and operate than where you have worked. Strong candidates come from FP&A and corporate finance, and also from finance business partnering, investment banking, private equity, consulting, strategic finance or accounting, as long as you are fluent in financial statements and can turn numbers into a story.

Who You Are

Work experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, finance business partnering, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, accounting or a related analytical role, with Manager-level ownership or the equivalent scope, and a strong understanding of financial statements. You have owned a recurring deliverable for a senior audience end to end across multiple cycles (an exec or board package, a monthly reporting pack, a client or deal model), and you have built or materially rebuilt a process or model from the ground up rather than only operated one.

Key skills and tools: Fluency in financial statements and how they connect, including balance sheet and cash flow mechanics. Advanced analytical and modeling skills, including building models from the ground up and working with large, detailed datasets. Advanced Excel or Google Sheets and strong slide-building skills.

Strong written and oral communication skills: You distill complex analyses into clear, concise insights and recommendations for executive and board audiences, tell the story behind the numbers, and build effective working relationships with leaders outside Finance.

Demonstrated independent ownership and problem-solving: Able to take an ambiguous problem, frame it, set priorities, and drive the work forward in the absence of templates or clear precedent. You make the routine calls yourself and bring your manager a proposal with only the decisions that need them. Does not require hand-holding on day-to-day execution.

Exceptional accuracy and quality control: Owns and takes pride in their work. Builds checks into models and decks, self-reviews before sending work up, and treats precision as a core professional value. Catches errors before they become someone else's problem. When you hand something over as ready, it is ready: tied to source, checked against house style, and reviewed by you first, so your manager's pass is the last check rather than the first. When you fix an issue, you fix it at the source so it does not return, and your fixes do not introduce new ones.

Proactive communication and workplan execution: Surfaces risks early, keeps stakeholders informed without being prompted, manages their own timelines, and delivers on commitments without needing to be chased. When a date will slip, your manager hears it from you before the deadline.

Hands-on curiosity and demonstrated use of AI tools in finance workflows: Has concrete, specific examples of using AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to automate reporting, accelerate analysis, improve modeling, or scale deliverables. Actively looks for new places to apply AI and is energized by the pace of change. You are accountable for every number and sentence in your deliverable regardless of which tool produced it, and you never hand over AI output you have not read and verified.

Moves at pace and learns fast: Comfortable taking on work you have not done before and learning new tools, systems and parts of the business quickly. Scrappy, curious, and a tinkerer by nature. Delivers under pressure when conditions change.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or another quantitative field.

You're genuinely excited about what AI can do - not just as a concept, but as something you want to get your hands on. At Babylist, every team uses AI daily, and we're looking for people who lean in.

Nice to have: Planning systems (Netsuite Planning and Budgeting, Oracle Hyperion, Anaplan, Adaptive), SQL or BI tools; experience improving or automating reporting and planning processes; familiarity with e-commerce, marketplace or retail business models; experience at both public and high-growth private companies; MBA or CPA.

How You Will Make An Impact

Own the execution of our monthly, quarterly, and annual FP&A processes, including the forecast calendar, key milestones, and long-term financial modeling, driving these cycles independently end to end.

Develop deep understanding of the Babylist business model and key levers in our business — build genuine business curiosity and fluency in how we make money, what drives growth and margin, and where the risks live. Use that understanding to deliver insights and commentary that connect the numbers to the underlying business, not just describe variances.

Contribute to executive and board of directors presentation materials on business performance and strategic business decisions — preparing analyses, drafting slides, and owning the accuracy of underlying data.

Prepare consolidated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow models. Analyze actual to expected performance with rigorous variance commentary grounded in data, not guesswork.

Ensure that our short, medium, and long range financial plans are built and delivered as part of a rigorous and collaborative process.

Own and improve the total company opex budgeting process (who requests, who approves, who loads, how it is documented) at the GL and department level, in partnership with department heads, Accounting, and the People team on headcount planning. Build the inspection mechanisms (budget log, approval thresholds, plan-to-actual GL mapping) that hold budget owners accountable to plan.

Develop and maintain financial models, reports, and analysis to support key business decisions and strategic initiatives

Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required, proactively surfacing insights and risks to the Director of Corporate Finance, VP of Finance, CFO, and business partners.

Identify and implement AI-enabled automation across FP&A workflows — actively experiment with AI tools to reduce manual effort on reporting, modeling, variance analysis, and deck production, and share learnings across the Finance team. Improve and scale by developing repeatable processes, including standardizing and automating reports and implementing enhancements to planning and forecast systems.

Take pride in your work and operate with a strong accuracy and quality control mindset — building review checkpoints, reconciliations, and self-QC habits into every deliverable before it leaves your desk.

Our interview Process

A recruiter screen, a 30-minute conversation with the hiring manager, a three-hour live working session on a realistic finance case (recorded, no AI, no preparation required), then a half-day final round with the Finance team. The live session replaces a take-home, so the total time you spend is lower and you see the work before you decide.
