COUNTER SALES SUPPORT ASSOCIATE - AUTOBODY AND REFINISHING SUPPLIES (BACKUP LOCAL DRIVER)

Description

PSE Group is seeking a Counter Sales Support Associate, in Zeeland, MI, to support body shops with autobody and reconditioning supplies, buffers, finishes, and automotive paints. In this role you will sell to walk-in customers, take phone calls, prepare customer orders for pick-up or delivery, mix paint using standard and custom formulas, and support our outside sales representatives with their customer needs. You will also serve as a backup local delivery driver, transporting products to nearby customers in company pickup trucks and cargo vans when needed. Success requires a genuine interest in autobody and refinishing products, the self-motivation to learn them independently, and the drive to stay busy and productive without close supervision, so that you can serve customers accurately. This role requires reliability, professionalism, and a strong customer-service mindset

This position is well suited for individuals who are self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Success in this position requires the ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain productivity without constant supervision. While guidance and support are available, this is not a highly structured or closely supervised training environment. The position has a strong emphasis on automotive and specialty coatings, along with the related products, equipment, and applications.

Job Duties:

Customer Service (Counter and Phone):

• •Performs counter sales for walk-in body shop customers, accurately identifying the right autobody, paint, finish, or buffing product among a large number of SKUs
• •Answers incoming telephone calls professionally, answers product questions, and receives and enters customer orders
• •Makes outbound calls to customers regarding automotive paint and refinishing products
• •Tracks order status and product shipments, and assists with inside customer service as needed, including servicing customers and processing their orders
• •Provides sales support to the outside sales team
• •Maintains customer records and files, including accurate account setup and pricing
• •Professionally conducts self to ensure customers’ quality and service expectations are met

Order Preparation:

• •Prepares customer orders accurately for pick-up or delivery
• •Mixes paint and prepare paint orders using standard and custom formulas (aprons and gloves provided)
• •Maintains Color Room records, including non-conformance reports, tint usage, can usage, and mis-tints, and performs necessary inventory transfers

Deliveries (Backup Driver):

• •Serves as backup local delivery driver when needed, making daytime deliveries only (no overnight routes)
• •Operates company pickup trucks and cargo vans
• •May make multiple delivery stops on days when backup driving is needed

Other Operational Tasks Assigned:

• •Reconciles inventory and stocks merchandise in store
• •Cleans and maintains all areas and equipment as assigned, and ensures maintenance of mixing equipment as needed
• •Properly dispose of waste materials and product in compliance with Company and governmental regulations
• •Takes initiative to identify and complete tasks during slower periods, such as stocking, organizing, cleaning, and studying product information, without waiting for direction
• •Performs the duties of other roles as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

• •High School Diploma/GED required
• •1+ year(s) of Customer Service, Inside Sales, or Counter Sales preferred
• •Team player with great customer service skills
• •Clean driving record and valid license
• •Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• •Tolerable to the smell of paint
• •Candidates must submit to a drug screen and meet acceptable Motor Vehicle Report requirements upon hiring process.
