Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Darwen, Lancashire

Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

Bringing numbers, people and problem solving together.

At Crown Paints, we know that behind every successful business is a great team keeping things moving. We're looking for a Credit Controller to join our Finance team in Darwen on a 12 month fixed term contract. Someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and making a real difference to how a business operates.

This isn't just about chasing payments. It's about understanding our customers, finding solutions and making sure we're doing the right thing for both our customers and our business.

If you're confident picking up the phone, have an eye for detail and enjoy the satisfaction of getting things sorted, we'd love to hear from you!

Make an impact where it counts.

As our Credit Controller, you'll take ownership of your own customer accounts, making sure payments are received on time, queries are resolved quickly and relationships stay strong.

You'll work closely with colleagues across Sales, Customer Services and Finance, so you'll be part of a team where communication, collaboration and a proactive approach really matter.

Here's what you'll be getting involved in:

Managing customer accounts, keeping on top of outstanding balances and proactively collecting overdue payments.

Building positive relationships with customers, having confident conversations and agreeing solutions that work.

Investigating and resolving invoice, pricing and account queries to keep payments moving.

Reviewing aged debt reports, identifying potential risks and helping reduce overdue balances.

Allocating payments, reconciling accounts and keeping financial records accurate.

Agreeing and monitoring payment plans, managing account holds and escalating more complex cases when needed.

Working with teams across the business to resolve issues and continuously improve how we do things.

The skills to succeed. The attitude to make a difference.

We're looking for someone who brings a great mix of financial know-how, confidence and people skills. You'll be comfortable having conversations about money, know when to hold firm on agreed payrment terms and understand the importance of maintaining great customer relationships along the way.

You'll ideally bring:

Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or a similar finance role.

Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to handle challenging conversations.

A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with numbers.

Good Excel skills and experience using financial systems.

A natural ability to build relationships, solve problems and work collaboratively.

Experience using SAP, Microsoft ERP systems or similar would be a bonus, but what matters most is your attitude, your willingness to get stuck in and your ability to make things happen.

A great place to work and a great team to be part of!

At Crown Paints, we're proud of the people behind our products. Our teams bring energy, ideas and expertise to everything we do, and we believe everyone should feel valued, supported and able to make their mark.

You'll be joining a business with a proud heritage, well-known brands and people who genuinely care about doing a great job.

We also know that flexibility matters. That's why this role offers a hybrid working pattern, with three days a week at our Darwen office and two days working from home, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues while enjoying a better balance.
