Role: Cyber Security Architect

Location: Hybrid, based from one of our offices in Derby, Manchester or Warrington

Salary: We anticipate paying a salary in the range of £69,000 - £90,600

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge, positioning us to become a world leader in SMRs and one of the UK's premier green export technologies.

Our Digital & IT function is central to enabling secure, scalable and innovative capabilities that support the growth of our SMR programme. As our business continues to evolve, we are strengthening how security is embedded across Enterprise, Engineering, Manufacturing and Programme Delivery activities.

In this context, we're looking for a Cyber Security Architect to provide security architecture leadership across a diverse technology landscape. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programme Delivery, Digital & IT and Cyber Security teams, you will help shape secure-by-design solutions that support the delivery of one of the UK's most ambitious engineering and industrialisation programmes.

This is a highly influential role that combines technical leadership, architectural governance and strategic engagement to ensure technology decisions align with business objectives, customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

We'll need you to:

Lead security architecture activities across Enterprise, Engineering, Manufacturing and Programme Delivery initiatives.

Influence business and technology decisions to ensure solutions are secure by design from concept through delivery.

Develop and maintain security architecture standards, patterns and reference architectures that support consistent and scalable delivery.

Provide architecture assurance, threat modelling and design governance across strategic programmes and technology initiatives.

Collaborate with business, engineering, manufacturing and technology stakeholders to align security architecture with organisational objectives.

Support the secure adoption of new technologies, platforms and ways of working whilst balancing business, customer and regulatory requirements.

As you can see, this is a high-impact role where you'll bring a collaborative mindset, architectural leadership and strong communication skills, as well as:

Essential skills

Significant experience delivering security architecture across complex business and technology environments.

Experience designing secure solutions across cloud, enterprise and integrated technology platforms.

Experience with Azure and/or AWS environments.

Proven ability to influence technology strategy, shape architectural direction and provide governance across multiple initiatives.

Strong understanding of security architecture principles, enterprise architecture concepts and secure-by-design approaches.

Experience engaging senior stakeholders and collaborating effectively across technical and business teams.

Beneficial qualifications include BCS Architecture certifications, CISSP or equivalent industry-recognised certifications.

What's in it for you

You'll be joining a growing organisation that values innovation, transparency and technical leadership, with opportunities to shape the secure foundations of a nationally significant engineering and manufacturing programme.

You'll influence how security is embedded within future engineering, manufacturing and digital capabilities, working alongside experts who are helping to deliver a new generation of clean energy technology.

We anticipate a salary of £69,000 - £90,600 dependent on the skills, values and experience you bring.

We also offer excellent benefits including:

Bonus: Performance-related bonus of up to 12.5%

Benefits Allowance: £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package

Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions

Holidays: 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days

Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover healthcare

Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay

£250 one-off payment for home office purchases

 Pay Range:

£60,000.00 -

£78,750.00
