Job Title : Data Architect (Specialty & Commercial Insurance)

Location : London

About the Job you are considering:

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with 12+ years of experience in designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions within the Insurance domain. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in data architecture, cloud-based data platforms, data governance, and insurance business processes.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

  • This role will be responsible for defining data strategy, designing scalable data architectures, and enabling data-driven business transformation initiatives.
  • Define and implement enterprise data architecture aligned with business and technology strategy.
  • Design scalable and secure data models, data lakes, data warehouses, and modern cloud-based data platforms.
  • Lead data architecture initiatives for Insurance business functions including Policy Administration, Claims, Underwriting, Pricing, Reinsurance, Customer, and Finance.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Establish data governance, metadata management, data quality, master data management (MDM), and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects, product owners, and engineering teams to translate requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Define data integration patterns using ETL/ELT, APIs, event-driven architectures, and real-time streaming technologies.
  • Drive cloud migration and modernization of legacy data platforms.
  • Support advanced analytics, AI/ML, reporting, and data monetization initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership, architectural governance, and best practices across data programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to Insurance organizations.

Your Skills

  • 12+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years in Data Architecture roles.
  • Strong Insurance domain knowledge covering: Policy Lifecycle Management, Claims Processing, Underwriting, Reinsurance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Customer & Broker Management
  • Expertise in data modelling techniques (ER Modeling, Dimensional Modeling, Data Vault).
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (preferred)
  • Experience with modern data technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric (preferred)
  • Strong SQL and database expertise across relational and non-relational platforms.
  • Experience designing Data Lakes, Lakehouse architectures, and Enterprise Data Warehouses.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with API integration, messaging platforms, and event streaming technologies.
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements.
