Solutions Engineering Department

The Solutions Engineering Department serves as the technical backbone of the sales organization, bridging customer business needs with the company’s technical capabilities and solutions. The team partners closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to design, validate, and present technically sound solutions that support revenue growth and long-term customer success.

Sales Engineers act as trusted technical advisors throughout the entire sales cycle—from early discovery and solution design to proposal development, RFP/RFI responses, and contract support. By translating complex technical requirements into clear, customer-focused solutions, the department ensures alignment between customer expectations, technical feasibility, and operational delivery.

Position Overview

This position can be based in a hybrid capacity at any of Vantage’s U.S. locations (3 days in the office, 2 days remote).

Vantage is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Solutions Architect to join our team in the data center industry. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions that meet the complex needs of our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including power distribution, critical backup systems, cooling architectures, life‑safety systems, and overall facility design. Familiarity with Telecom, and networking platforms is beneficial. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions.

Essential Job Functions

Solution Design and Architecture:

Contribute to customized data center solutions focused on electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including power, cooling, redundancy, and facility systems.

Serve as a subject matter expert on data center infrastructure, building systems, and white-space fit-outs

Support the development of high‑level solution concepts, ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational alignment.

Client Engagement and Requirements Gathering:

Engage with clients to understand their business needs, technical requirements, and challenges.

Conduct detailed requirements analysis and translate business needs into technical specifications.

Technical Leadership:

Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and design to implementation and post-deployment support.

Partner with Design Engineering, Construction, Operations, Commercial, Legal, and other departments to ensure successful delivery of solutions.

Technology Evaluation and Selection:

Evaluate and recommend technologies, products, and services that align with client needs and industry standard methodologies.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the data center industry to inform solution design.

Proof of Concept and Testing:

Develop and lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to validate proposed solutions.

Oversee testing and validation of solutions to ensure they meet performance, security, and reliability standards.

Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of solution designs, configurations, and deployment procedures.

Provide knowledge transfer and training to clients and internal teams on the implemented solutions.

Pre-Sales Support:

Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including client presentations, proposal development, and RFP responses.

Assist in creating solution blueprints, cost estimates, and technical proposals.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for improving solution design processes, tools, and methodologies.

Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for solution architecture within the organization.

Additional Duties:

Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in a customer‑facing technical or sales engineering role, supporting electrical and mechanical data center solutions during pre‑sales and early project phases.

Experience with Telecom and networking.

Proven experience in designing and implementing complex technical solutions in the data center or technology industry.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to design scalable and reliable solutions.

Strong communication and social skills, with the ability to engage with clients and internal teams effectively.

Strategic problem solver with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Thorough with strong organizational skills.

Ability to manage numerous projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment.

Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $135,000 - $160,000 (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.
  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
