AWS is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Consumer Experience team. We're looking for someone who is curious about large-scale data challenges and motivated to apply ML/AI and advanced analytics to solve real customer problems.
Reporting to the Science Lead, this role supports the analytical capabilities of AWS by applying emerging technologies, contributing to data science best practices, and partnering with stakeholders to deepen understanding of the AWS customer experience.
The ideal candidate has experience working in complex data and analytics environments, with hands-on skills in Machine Learning and advanced analytics techniques — preferably within cloud computing. You should be comfortable building models and equally comfortable explaining what they mean to a non-technical audience.
- Key job responsibilities
- - Apply statistical analysis, ML, and complex data mining techniques to deliver insights that shape the AWS customer experience.
- - Build production-ready analytics solutions that support effective business decisions.
- - Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to develop and launch data products.
- - Contribute to the adoption of Gen AI and ML-based approaches across the data science practice, including building proof-of-concept AI-driven customer use cases.
- - Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- - Bring new ideas — share approaches, tools, and methods that raise the bar for the team.
Basic qualifications
- - 2+ years of data scientist experience
- - 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- - 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- - 1+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers experience
- - 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems experience
- - 1+ years of creating or contributing to mathematical textbooks, research papers, or educational content experience
- - Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or experience working in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- - Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Preferred qualifications
- - Ph.D. in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- - Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving
- - Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- - Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company
- - Experience in defining and creating benchmarks for assessing GenAI model performance
- - Experience working on multi-team, cross-disciplinary projects
- - Experience applying quantitative analysis to solve business problems and making data-driven business decisions
- - Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
