Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain , and optimize MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra database platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, security, and scalability of databases supporting mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration :

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Apache Cassandra databases

Perform database capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization

Monitor database health, replication, clustering, and availability

Backup, Recovery & High Availability :

Design and manage backup and recovery strategies (logical & physical backups)

Implement and manage replication, clustering, and failover solutions

Perform disaster recovery planning and regular DR drills

Security & Compliance :

Manage database security: users, roles, privileges, encryption, and auditing

Apply security patches and upgrades in compliance with company policies

Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory standards

Performance & Troubleshooting :

Diagnose and resolve database performance issues and outages

Analyze slow queries, locks, and resource bottlenecks

Provide root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents

Automation :

Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.)

Support containerized and cloud-based database deployments (if applicable)

Documentation & Support :

Maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks

Provide on-call support for production database environments

Assist developers with schema design, indexing, and query optimization

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Skills :

Strong hands-on experience with MariaDB / MySQL , PostgreSQL , and Apache Cassandra

Expertise in:

Replication & clustering (Galera, PostgreSQL streaming replication, Cassandra clusters)

Backup & recovery tools ( mysqldump , pg_dump , pg_basebackup , nodetool , etc.)

Performance tuning and query optimization

Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting

Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)

Database Concepts :

ACID vs BASE principles

OLTP and distributed database architectures

Data modeling for relational and NoSQL databases
